DLC Question

Hello! I have a retail disc version of a game, and I want to add some dlc to it. Is it possible to install dlc onto a retail disc game? I have the .rap files for the dlc of course, or is it only possible to install dlc to PS3 games in ISO format? If someone could explain this me, I'd appreciate it!

You can add DLC, patches, fixes and other content using PS3_EXTRA folder. You can add the folder to the game in JB folder format, then you can convert it to ISO.

In my ps3 tools collection there is a tool named Create PS3_EXTRA that can assist you in the creation of the structure.

There are other alternative methods like using PKGDIR or INSDIR, but I find PS3_EXTRA more convenient.

BTW PS3_EXTRA is a Blu-Ray disc game structure. It does *NOT* work with HAN exploit.

Note: The pkg that install the rif files are specific for only one console.

A better method is to decrypt the EBOOT / SELF / sprx / edat / sdat using the rap, resign them using the free license, then repack the DLC.
That way the same PKG can be installed on multiple consoles (assuming that the user have more than one console).

Okay so I installed the pkg files to my system, but now when I go into the game the title of the DLC appears but when I preview the item its empty, btw I'm trying to install Final Fantasy 13-2 DLC. Help would be appreciated! D:

There are some resigners in my PS3 Tools Collection, but TrueAncestor resigners by jjkkyu can be better for some games.

Anyway this thread is old and now Cobra/Mamba/HEN payloads can apply the rap files on the fly without having to resign or decrypt the DLC or the game files. You only have to put the rap files in /dev_hdd0/exdata or /dev_usb000/exdata and the games will be unlocked automatically when the game is launched.

This method require an activated PSN account. Evilnat 4.88.2 can make a fake activation of the use account without accessing PSN.

If I recall correctly Apollo Save Tool can activate the account too.

@aldostools Apologies, this thread is a bit old, but seems relevant. Could you please confirm if using the PS3_EXTRA folder wrapped back into an ISO works for latest HEN? If not I'll stop digging further. Thank you
