Does PS2(softmodded) pal give good component output to my crt tv?

I have a PS2 pal and crt tv with a component input and s video input. I have seen people saying PS2 pal doesn't support component output, is it true? Should I get a component cable or s video or none. My Tv doesn't have RGB scart input ,just to mention.

the ps2 supports component output, for sure. I have my ps2 with such cable. (5 connector cables: video R, G, B, audio L, audio R)

there are some non-official adapters such as VGA-box, but those might need a boot disc or a modchip.
