Maybe he meant well, but there is one small page of text about how to use the writer, and he obviously did not read that when making his tutorial

Its one small page. He should know that 4.82 OFW now = 4.84 HFW.

No, Unfortunately you can't when PS3 keeps shutting itself ..

Software method isn't available when PS3 doesn't run its OS..

oops forgot that by the way @Joonie my ps3 had a live / moving rebug theme a red one it was like this

does it mean my ps3 was previously jailbroken

Title says it all, Lots of people using and recommending for example, MrMario tutorial .

And they are bricking due to bad advice. No mention of checking the dump after patching in his tutorial. edit: or installing HFW twice.

Like, if you are going to make a tutorial, follow the official steps, ffs.

AND if you are going to recommend a tutorial to others, at least watch it and make sure it covers the basic 6 steps (see post below)
So what your saying is, don't trust MrMario2011 at all? :confused3:

Well, Im not saying all his stuff is bad, but the writer instructions on **ps3xploit.com >Domain no Longer owned by team** (ps3xploit.me =new) are only about 10 bullet points, and he seemed to miss a big % of them out.

So i would triple check his stuff against 2 other sources in future. That's just me. I know its hard to make the perfect tutorial, and there is always someone who will mess it up. but a user would be better of following these 10 simple steps than watching his 28 minute video :)

I can't really tell since the theme can be changed on OFW as well. It's possible that you attempted to jailbreak the PS3 that was already jail broken..
Well we already established his hex was dodgy and that was cause, i thought?

my ps3 may have been hailbroken before but I was playing online there was no homebrews etc on my console when I purchased it the previous owner may have deleted it but the theme was there

For the time being, you need to figure out why you have the wrong file that bricked your PS3, you could already have working PS3 right now if you didn't flash that broken file. Could you please download the file again from where you downloaded ?

Download the standalone PyPS3checker zip archive, extract and then drag your flash dump onto the batch file to verify the dump.

Edit: I read the discussion out of context. Here's the page to download the ZIP with flash_484.hex in it: https://www.psx-place.com/threads/p...mpers-v2-0-1-now-install-cfw-from-4-84.23123/

Verify the MD5 of flash_484.hex once it's on the root of the USB drive and ready to be used.
MD5: AB2B3A2E23FA731301260F5702FC4101

The MD5 hash needs to be this, otherwise the file is corrupted in some way.
