Downgrade PS3 OFW from 4.83 to whatever makes PS3xploit work

Hi all folks,

I'm new and I'd like to apoligize in advance if this isn't the right section of the forum to post in; but I'd like to know if there's a method which might allow me to downgrade my OFW from 4.83 (yes, I updated like an idiot) down to 4.82 in order to install PS3xploit and run backup copies from the internal hard drive.

My PS3 is a 500 GB superslim model but I do not have the exact model at the moment though; can this be done or am I just out of luck?

Thanks for the great service you're providing to the community!

On a superslim no, you are s o l. If you had a hackable ps3 you would be able to use a hardware flasher. Sell that ps3, and get a model that passes the minverchk minimum firmware requirement for cfw.

Can't a hardware flasher be used to downgrade superslim to 4.82??

It was to my understanding that the only reason people didn't use hardware flash on superslims was because the minversion was higher than 3.55. But with 4.82 HAN, there is a reason to downgrade to that firmware...

But then again. I guess this is relatively new thinking as there wasn't a 4.83 firmware a few weeks ago, so there was no need to even try downgrading. ..

My 2 cents.

EDIT: Also, to @filtroman, it's probs cheaper and less hassle buying a new ps3 than buying a hardware flasher and then learning how to use it. I was just interested in whether a hardware flasher was possible.

EDIT 2: Or, you could wait patiently to see if the devs here can make ps3xploit work with 4.83...

I am under the impression from looking around and reading that a hardware flasher can be used for basics such as ripping idps and such, but because of unknowns like metldr2 that it cannot be downgraded without a brick. Anyone care to answer or try? I dont own a superslim to try.

I also found very little info on hardware flashers and super slims...

I'd have a go, but I have neither a flasher nor a superslim

E3 flashers can't be used on ANY system to downgrade unless the factory firmware that came with the system at the time of it being manufactured is 3.56 or lower. NO super slim has this. So it's impossible. This has been cover a billion times, you will always brick. But since we live in a time of alternative facts and truths don't matter... knock yourself out and try.

He means to downgrade to 4.82 and use han, not 3.55. Gotta read carefully

All systems after early 3.60 minimum version models metldr2 security was fixed and does not allow for any patched FW to be flashed without causing a brick

There is a detail you are not mentioning :)
Before writing with the ps3xploit in flash you can make a flash dump in 4.82 (containing 100% official files and original data)
This dump is valid for your PS3, and you can write it back to flash with a flasher

The problem is syscon stores a hash of the firmware/s installed in flash... so in some way syscon is "supervising" the validity of flash files. If syscon is storing data from 4.83 then after flashing back the flash dump with 4.82 there is going to be a mistmatch of versions in between them
I dont know if there is some way to bypass this checks in this scenario though, im just mentioning it because i think is a good example to see where is the root of the problem
