PS3 Downgrading from 4.85 CFW to 2.80 OFW?

if sony hadn't been so greedy, they probably would've sold a lot more ps3s. instead, we got ps2 classics, which you have to pay for.

As @Berion mentioned before, try putting the update as debug update ("/dev_hdd0/updater/00/PS3UPDAT. PUP").

This is useful if you are trying to downgrade lower than 3.55, for example for older Phats, keep and eye on your Minimum Applicable Version, the firmware can't be no lower than your factory base firmware.

Well, I did the whole toggle qa and combo button, as soon as I plugged the usb drive the console froze and it's giving me the YLOD.
 
Hi. I have PS3 CECHG04 with 4.86 CFW. I wanna downgrade it to 2.00 OFW for nostalgic reasons. I don't use this console very often so I'm aware that I won't have access to PSN, Netflix, games, which have to acquire newer OFW than 2.00 etc. I have 2.00 OFW on Original OFW CD, so if it is possible, I would install it from that. I understand that I must install QA Flag and insert the OFW on /dev_hdd0/updater/00/PS3UPDAT.pup, right?

I have CFW Rebug version 3.55 installed and would like to install a version lower than 3.00.

I enabled the QA Flags and activated the System Update Debug but unfortunately it keeps giving me an error telling me that ''the data is corrupted'' or ''the data type is not supported'' (2.80 OFW)

How can I do?

maybe you have converted to DEX ,check if your system is CEX or DEX in rebug toolbox
 
dunno about NAND's, but from what I remember, I just have installed the miversion update straight from XMB

Have you downgraded? What was your procedure?

I would like to update the system from CFW 3.55 to a version lower than 3.00.
 
erm, what shall I explain to you? it was before 4.xx era, where I've installed minversion update. dunno if it was after QA was discovered or if I was using FSM. using Factory Service Mode should definately work

Is there a way to enable Factory Service Mode on CFW 3.55?..

honestly, if you really want to do this, you should have done better research on your own, cause this is not sth trivial. anyways, if you plan on using FSM, DO NOT flash firmware from XMB and instead use lv2diag and usb drive. but I won't spoil you here, so you have to solve this on your own finding the files

You don't need to toggle FSM if you are on 3.55 or below. if your FW is too low then some times it would ask you to rebuild data base which will be done via prompt almost forceful&automated.

I know that it does not have to be FSM, but he already posted about problems accepting the firmware. afaik, I just have flashed it from XMB with QA active, but then it was a NOR PS3

Now I read above posts,, he wanted to downgrade from 3.55 CFW to OFW 2.80 which wouldn't work unless he repacks his OFW 2.80 (simple UPL edit may work due to broken ECDSA IIRC).

so yeah FSM would be the easiest if he wants to downgrade which doesn't explain why he would want it that way.
