Downloading pkg files directly to internal hdd from XMB

yeah I can't download Cobra CFW Tools from Homebrew Downloader, aparently I must have changed the version number on the copy I have on my system, It informs me I have a later version already installed :p

Interesting..Didn't know it was checking that as it doesn't say the same version is installed. makes sense though. Cool.

Does it say that before downloading or before installing? I ask because I know it checks the content ID before downloading.

I'm temparily banned for going on 8 months now, so I don't real care what they look for anymore, I don't need PSN :p

I told you I could give you some ids (whether you need PSN or not) but you ignored me... That's what I get for being nice...

u should leave the app version blank. it'll install even over 9.99. :p
I think it's because it was change in the contentID of the eboot

I was always kind of scared as to what you would want as payment :p

Ok thanks. I know for sure the PS3 can check the content ID of the pkg its downloading before its downloaded, which surprised me, thought it would be after. Now I know it checks the eboot content ID/version after install.

what do ye think of this as a download icon instead:

XMB_downloader_v_0_010.jpg

Kind of fits the XMB more. Its just the upload icon flipped. :)

yes, the app version is recorded in the metadata. iirc, it's one of the first things listed. I think the very first is the parental level. :p

Oh man you should be scared of my huge expectations....
I know you're kidding but true that nowadays noone gives stuff for free... But my offer was genuine, I don't care about getting something in return, not my style at all....you wouldn't owe me f#ck all... Anyway up to you, those ids are from my own dead consoles, they are clean.. (I even have s set of DECR ids if I remember well...).

So you won't pm me your file, you nasty man. Grrrr...
Basically you have used an old category_game_tool2.xml? Which fw version? 4.75/4.76 would do? I did not notice differences before witb new 4.78 version but I have maybe missed something...

So what I need next is a fast host for the packages (dropbox is just temporary). I don't mind paying for it. I need to be able to get direct links with ".pkg" at the end or they wont work. I also really need to be able to swap the files at the end of the links (ie not a new link every time I upload a file), that way when there is a homebrew update I can just swap the file and that way any users wont need to update any xmls unless there is actually completely new homebrew out (another problem solved).

Any suggestions?

I can try to set it up for you. You should ensure it works first. Cannot see any reason why it wouldn't...
Got a fixed IP & decent bandwidth, at least to begin with... Of course if it grows & there are hundreds of concurrent users it might become too limited.
However you could start with that & change later if need be.

Yeah thanks. ill do some tests, don't think it will ever be that big to be honest.

Thanks loads for the offer, but its ok for now. really I would rather sort something out myself as it would be a PITA to ever have to change all the links in the future so id rather get it set up on my own host for that reason. Thanks though.

Over here in Ireland ive got 70KBs upload speeds so my own connection isn't an option :)

Fine. No problem.

Got a 100Mbs download & 25 Mbs Upload on VDSL im the middle of the countryside..
On the continent though...

Edit:
Btw am working on getting the file download & pkg installing working without using xai_plugin as this would require mysis.

The functions should be accessible using xml but also using webMAN-MOD web commands.
I am considering adding them to wm_vsh_menu too, dunno yet.. ☺
