PS3 Drilling holes in ps3 slim case

I saw on YouTube a tutorial for better heat dissipation and cooling,

which in the process he drills 16 holes over the upper case on the fan side and puts a dust filter,

and he tests it and gets over -10c improvement,

so I was thinking on doing it on my 2004b slim and attaching another fan if possible to keep it quiet,

but thought that could effect the other components cooling?!

so I came here to see if anyone have any experince with this kind of things, (replys would be greatly appreciated!)

just think about it, sony spends thousands of dollars, hundreds of hours with multiple peolpe on developing and running simulations to get optimal cooling inside the case.
now we have some human on a video showing that holes go make ps3 cool and mega pro never die.

i dont know the actual numbers i just dramatised it to make my point.

all i know is that air is supposed to be drawn in from the side and front ventilation holes and run trough the motherboard and the components attached to it. u make holes and all of them will run hotter except the cpu/gpu, psu and some other spots

This has been analyzed before. You get some improvements on the CELL/RSX temps, but as the airflow is not going out via the back vents the PSU has no heat transfer, thus keeping most of the heat inside the case.

As @Samppa109s said, Sony spent lots of time and money in researching the best cost/effective airflow design, so cancelling the airflow by drilling some random holes is not recommended.

These cooling mods are as useless as the whole company behind the Intercooler for the 360. Sony and MS have had smart enough engineers to make their cooling and anything else mod wise is just snake oil.

The guy himself said (NEVER ON THe SLIM VERISON) he have over 26 holes on the bottom of the case and 26 on the upper his name is nsc modz on youtibe

not only are those holes hideous to look at you will end up starving other components that were designed to get airflow from the fan sucking in air

dont take it from me, take it from the engineers at SCEI

Hey I don't mean to bump the thread but I can't send you a DM. Do you happen to remember where you got these images from? They seem to be a higher quality than any other source for that presentation I can find online and they're also taken from a different angle.

edit: nevermind I managed to find the original source here https://game.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/news/631118.html
Here are 2 additional articles about the presentation
