PS5 DualSense not charging while the PS5 is in rest mode

Don't charge when it's dead. I always charge when it's at one bar or it tells me to, but I've continued using the controller for around an hour after the warning. It won't charge if it's too full. On paper, it has about 800 charging cycles. I think it mentions this by Sony in some specs sheet. I remember the number. I was also wondering about it not charging before I read up on overcharging, so now you know.

So, I shouldn't let it fully discharge? If so, what sense does it make if 100% of the battery isn't used but just 80%/85%/90%/95% (for instance)?

It's designed to prevent Overcharging, so it won't charge at all unless it's been depleted by a certain amount. The attempts you made trying to charge it probably didn't matter, since it's designed not to charge.

OK, but in that case shouldn't I only have charged after more battery was depleted, even if still counts as 1 cycle?

That is the suggested way of charging. I don't know how much battery left one bar is, but it must be around 20% left or so, if I had to guess.

Did you read that on the manual?
Not really. However, they wouldn't have over charging tech in their batteries, if you were always supposed to keep them fully charged. I can tell you from experience that it kills batteries, and it's especially bad if you let the batteries die fully first.

But don't modern devices/chargers know when to stop charging the batteries to not damage them?

The DualSense doesn't charge while the PS5 is in rest mode. I already enabled the PS5 setting to provide power to the USB ports while the PS5 is in rest mode but the DualSense still doesn't charge. The same thing goes for PULSE 3D.
EDIT: Sometimes, if the PS5's USB ports are being used to charge the DualSense/PULSE 3D while the PS5 is in rest mode and I take their USB cables and put them back, they stop charging as well as if I resume the PS5. Maybe this only happens if DualSense/PULSE 3D are close from being fully charged.
Bingo! Dualsense only charge when low on battery power, at least with the official charger though.

Why the copy paste?

EDIT: I bought this powered USB hub for the PS5 and I have to use a travel adapter to fit it in my wall socket since it has an US power plug and I'm in Portugal but now I have an annoying whistling noise when it's connected to the power strip even after disconnecting the other devices from both power strips (one is connected to the other one and the other one is connected to a wall socket) and the DualSense and PULSE 3D don't charge if connected to some of its USB ports while the PS5 is in rest mode, which is odd. Also, this powered USB's hub "POWER" indicator is always on and I can't turn it off unless I click the powered USB hub's power strip's switch (for instance). I previously bought this unpowered USB hub for the PS5 but the DualSense and PULSE 3D didn't charge if connected to it when the PS5 was turned off unlike with the other USB hub since it's not powered but at least it didn't make the whistling noise.

EDIT 2: I don't know how but DualSense's USB-C port has moved and to put it back in the original position so I can connect an USB-C cable to it I have to press the controller's touch pad with some force while I connect the USB-C cable. I can also still use the DualSense Charging Station since it doesn't use the controller's USB-C port. Maybe the DualSense's USB-C port moved when assembling the controller after I changed its battery since it was draining fast (I also changed PULSE 3D's ear pads since they had worn off).

EDIT 3: I bought PULSE Elite and its dongle blinks even with the PS5 turned off if connected to the console's powered USB hub, not to mention PULSE Elite disconnected once for some seconds with its dongle connected to it (the powered USB hub is connected to a PS5 back USB-A port) so I connected the dongle to the PS5's front USB-A port. Also, PULSE Elite makes a buzz-like sound when being charged even if turned off.

EDIT 4: PULSE Elite disconnected for some seconds with its dongle connected to the PS5's front USB-A port as well.

EDIT 5: Sometimes, PULSE Elite has lower volume though the level keeps the same in the "Volume" bar and I have to turn PULSE Elite off and on to fix this bug. Odd.
