Hi,

I just have a little question about dual-boot with E3-Flasher.

On a few tutorials I saw, when we use HDD with the OFW, we use internal memory flash, and when we use the HDD with the CFW, we use external memory flash on the E3.

Is it possible to:

- Reverse the ordre? That is to say, use the internal memory flash for CFW and extern for OFW? I don't know if we put "OFW" on the E3, if she's automaticly check on internal memory flash
- Install a dump patcher on each flash? Internal and extern

would there be a great reason as to why you would want to? when you cut the trace between a/b on the motherboard, you are successfully keeping the nor from powering on. so you have to solder the wire from that to the flasher. when switch is one way you boot from one NOR, when it is the other way, you boot from the other. i see no reason why your idea would not work, though it wouldnt make a hill of beans. or you could just follow the tutorial ;)
 
Ok, I justed wanted a confirmation, but I think too we can make like this, NOR patched on internal memory and original NOR on E3.

I'd like know this for making a few test, for exemple, use dual-boot for:

- CEX flash on internal memory
- DEX flash on E3.

(I know we can switch very easy with Rebug Toolbox without changing HDD or CFW but I just would like test :D)

And some tests
 
Ok thanks for confirmation Joonie. I never realy tested dual-boot with E3, but I think it will be interesting for switching CEX and DEX CFW
 
Yea I used to have Cobra and non-Cobra on my E3 when there was a need to but now with the new 4.46.1 REX Cobra I have no use for it anymore.
 
Yes I think ^^

If I make that, it's only for make new things, I don't think I will use it like you, I have some PS3 on CEX and DEX so not really useful but for fun :D

OFW/REX[CEX/DEX/OtherOS++] also possible :) make sure to install OFW at the end so that way OFW won't panic when boots [CFW can fool syscon :) but OFW can't]
 
Ow yes I had not thought about OtherOS/Red Riborn, it can be interesting too. But yes if I make this, I'd like make on 4.65. If the PS3 is on 4.66, I think to patch the flash, downgrade on 3.55 with Rogero Downgrader and use toggle_qa, and install OFW 3.55, copy the dump on flash on E3 and make conversion on DEX and install 4.65.2 D-REX on default HDD, and install OFW 4.65 on HDD for external flash.

Qa flag is meaningless to dual boot setup, you can always do it while on 4.65 cfw, btw there is no point of using ofw 4.65, go with 4.66 instead :)
 
Yes why not 4.66 but if I want use Red Riborn, must be 4.65.2 for use your CFW Rebug :p

I think I make like this, internal flash on DEX with 4.65.2 D-REX, and on flash on the E3, CEX with 4.65.2 REX and use Red Riborn :)

Dual boot doesn't require the same coreOS version,

I currently do 4.66/4.65, my first dual boot video demonstrated ofw 4.45 / rex 4.30.2 :)
 
So I ordered a new E3 and new HDD and I must find PS3 FAT, I realy would like make a mod like [MENTION=567]Mikka[/MENTION] made on CECHL :D

Ah okey, I thought in USA you call PS3 NAND Band PS3 xD

But yes my first PS3 jailbroken it was an E3 and after I discovered Teensy, but I find the dual-boot with E3 interesting

Be careful the CECHL have the troublesome Samsung NOR flash in them. I parted ways with mine as it was troublesome.
 
Yes I saw CECHL but it can be other model. As DIA-001, DIA-002 or VER-001 I prefer working on VER, I think it's better motherbord on FAT PS3
