PS3 Error 80029517 on Legit Games

What legit games are you talking about?
Disc based? PSN pkg? Installed how ? Using HAN? Or using an official installation process?

Are you actually asking for help here because if you are, you may want to clarify your question if you really wish to get any.

HAN patches are all removed when you reboot so any legitimate installation (with proper license) installed before HAN was ever in play (like a disc installation or a game officially installed through PSN) is guaranteed to work on reboot.
If it doesn't, it means that you must have made other changes beyond what HAN does.
However if the "legit" games were installed with HAN, this particular error corresponds to a licensing error, which is typical of noobie mistakes with HAN. I suggest you refer to the tutorial again, you are doing something wrong, probably the resigning steps.

Hi! So by legit games I mean games I paid for and downloaded from the playstation store, including the monthly "free" playstation plus games. Sorry, though this would be obvious. Didn't want to bore anyone with a long post, but here we go:

I wanted to play Last of Us DLCs Grounded difficulty and Left Behind. I have a bunch of legit games on my main user account and bunch of HAN games on my secondary user account. Last of Us game worked on both accounts. But DLC only worked on HAN account with HAN enabled. On the main account it was asking me to sign in, which I did not want to do due to the new firmware update. This was my starting point.

So I thought id inject the .rif file for the DLC and play it on my main account that way. Just for trophies mainly. But on my PC I have a few games and didn't know which .rif file was for Left Behind so I injected all the .rif files I have, using PKG Linker. *mod edit*.

The result was that Left Behind now works on my main account with HAN enabled. Also, some of the "legit" games now only work with HAN enabled (And I totally get why that is, so no need to explain that). However, the rest of the "legit" games don't work at all (with HAN enabled or with HAN disabled). That is the part Im confused with. I even risked it and went online anyway (with PS3 proxy server) and re-downloaded some of them and they still don't work. I also downloaded a new game from PS Plus and that also gives error 80029517.

Hope that enough info? If not, just ask.

Thanks!

As I told you before, your issue is caused by bad licensing, it is overall unrelated to HAN itself but rather caused by a mistake you made along the way.

You said "I injected all the rif files I have?
I need more details to understand exactly why some games won't work anymore.
Are those rif files all resigned for HAN or are they a mixed bunch?
Are they all rif licences of the games you own?
Do those files include rif licenses for the games you cannot start anymore?

All signed at the same time using the PKG Linker, made the single rif installer with loads of 0s in the name and installed it.

Are they all rif licences of the games you own?

The set of game backups I have on my PC with rif licenses is a different set from the games I have installed on my official account via PSN. These is some overlap, and those games are the ones that still work, but now need HAN enabled, which makes sense.

Do those files include rif licenses for the games you cannot start anymore?

No. The games I can not start are the ones that I did not install rif files for. Tried reinstalling from PSN but no dice.

I also re-installed a HAN signed game from PSN and it stopped working.

If you really didn't mess with the licenses files or with the act.dat file, there would be absolutely no reason to have any such issue.

HAN Enabler/Debug pkg Enabler are non persistent memory patches that are removed on reboot.

HAN installer replaces a few system files in /dev_flash unrelated to licensing.

HAN ACT/IDPS dumper makes no modifications to the system.

Those HAN Tools do not have the means to induce the issue you describe.

Afaik from the perspective of tools alone, only the rif injection step you performed via PKG Linker could eventually explain it ie inappropriately signed files causing a license error.

I would not know how to mess with the act.dat file lol. What if I used a different act.dat file by accident, like from a different user or a PS3? But then why would some of the games work and others not?

Not a big deal really. I can sign every game with HAN or reformat the HDD and install from PSN again. But would just be interested to know how it happened.

I may have figured out what the problem is:

I created a RIF installer for unlockc00.pkg and installed it in my dummy account. For some reason this made all my official games on my official account stop working. Any reason why this should be the case? Anyone else have this happen to?

I think this is what happened anyway, but I dont want to try again. lol
