I was installing cfw evilnat 4.89.3 but the ps3 updater gave me error: 8002f99d any known fixes. I have a ps3 slim model: cech-2501a.

this error code was not reported in 6 years

You need to flash your console first before you can install CFW
I recommend HEN flasher

do you know what cfw you had before?

perhaps you are on dex...does it ask for current firmware version or minver?
