Im trying desperatelly to find in google an image ive seen in a documentary of how it looks one of that "cratons" but is imposible, all i can say is that it was pretty cool. It was a simulation made in 3D in a PC, because obviouslly doesnt exists any photo of them, lol
Im not an expert at all about geology, but long story short... the cratons are located under the earth mantle, they are mostly static and the mantle moves over them
The top of the craton is solid... but the bottom is liquid... this creates an intermediate area where the minerals are in "semisolid" state, and at very high pressure, for thousands of years
The consequence is the atoms of those minerals in a semisolid state under pressure have lot of time to "move around" and align with other atoms, creating perfect mineral "cristaline" structures
As a consequence... if we could "take a photo" of that semisolid area we would see pretty much what you painted

Lot of red (because the heat), a bit of dark colors (because the other solidifyed minerals), and a lot of straight lines of the cristaline structures
Your image in red tones looks exactly like that, it seems you made it on purpose, i like it

The other image in blue follows a bit this same concept of cristalized minerals, but without high temperatures... it makes me remember a bit of the superman "cave" with that huge crystals
