PS3 Evilnat CFW

My previous post was misconstrued as piracy and for that I apologize. I had a question about creation of act.dat in evilnat 4.92.2 thread which states:

WARNING: The accountID is linked to savedata and trophies, so, if your current user already have a valid accountID and you overwrite it, you will be unable to use your trophies and savedata on that account until you restore the original accountID in xRegistry.sys.

Can someone please explain this to me and why it is necessary to create an act.dat file? I'm afraid of losing my game saves if I update.

Updating CFW can be so nerve wracking based off my previous experiences. I was messing around with some tools I believe it was Apollo game saves and I activated my ps3 and it created some activation file. I don't know the meaning of this feature and it won't let me revert. What is the purpose of having to activate a ps3? Like you know some time it gives you that option to activate your system and it asks you games or videos?

You need to activate your console in order to use licenced digital content downloaded from PS Store.
