PS3 FAT PS3 (CECHA00) black screen when trying to run PS2 games specifically

I recently bought a CECHA00 PS3 from Japan for relatively cheap, it works all good so far except for the fact that most of the time, it won't play PS2 games, I just get a black screen.

I say "most of the time" because it seems to play PS2 games but just under very specific conditions (I still haven't completely figured it out but one thing seems to be that temps need to be 70c+) sometimes it even launches the game but it freezes almost instantly (soft freeze since I'm able to just reset or quit the game).

Normally, from what I've seen, the console runs at around 55-60 idle and at most 70 when in game so I have to really try to get it to 70 so then PS2 games launch sometimes.

I haven't delidded or changed thermal paste yet (though I plan to do so soon) but I have cleaned it completely.

This happens specifically for PS2 games, PSX or PS3 games will run just fine.

Anyone got any idea on what this could be or how could I fix? Thank you.
 
What title(s) have you tested for PS2? There's a few PS2 titles that actually don't run at all on full BC PS3s (CECHA/CECHB) and will black screen. This is assuming you're launching them by inserting a PS2 disc, or running them as ISOs (e.g. webMAN/multiMAN).

Personally I don't think temperatures matter here, especially since PS2 emulation on CECHA runs on the EE+GS+Rambus so Cell and RSX shouldn't even be relevant. Unless you're launching a PS2 Classics title in which it does use the Cell and RSX and not the PS2 hardware.

I have tried quite a bit (I've got quite a bit of JP PS2 games) and all got the same issue, just to mention some:
Ape Escape 2
Gran Turismo 3 and 4
The Three FMA Games

Among others, I don't think it's the games itself since after the PS3 gets to certain temp, they do launch and run flawlessly as far as I can tell but most of the time (mainly when temps are low) it simple gives me the black screen
 
Unfortunately I have the same problem with 2 consoles, one cecha00 frankie 40nm and cecha01 90nm.
I Checked all voltages, replaced the cdx9028gx.
Regardless of temperature, ps2 games do not work on both, but i can access the menu and quit from ps2 game.
I'm studying more to try to find out if there is a standard solution for everyone with these same characteristics.
