Hi Guys!
Recently, I wanted to install FMCB on my memory card, for this I used the FDVDB program and the appropriate iso from-(https://www.psdevwiki.com/ps2/index.php?title=FreeDVDBoot_Compatibility_List) for my console (SCPH-39003 with dvd player 2.13E) I burned the program on a dvd-r disc at the lowest speed, and it does not work, black screen ... I am looking for a program that would work on my console in order to install FMCB, I found an opentuna program on the forum that would work for me? what do you think? is the only way to have FMCB on this console is to buy a card with FMCB installed? I am asking for help, dear users of this wonderful forum

hi i read your thread and i don't understand, i have a problem with installing FMCB on MC via FDVDB and not making a copy of the game

He will need to purchase a device (MC) containing free software inside if he has no ways to installing that free software on his own.
That's the misconception folks always fall into: saying that "XYZ software is free" when one needs to buy the hardware that comes with the necessary free software.

Buying the software alone when it's free is a scam, but as you need to buy a piece of hardware that comes with the necessary software, then yes, it isn't a scam, unless someone doesn't deliver the intended product and service (the product = the memory card & the service = having it Free McBooted out of the box)

not yet, and will it be necessary?

It worth mentioning also the swap trick, if you have an original Ps2 game (better if a CD one) and a couple blank discs.

Anyway the best way to play games on your Ps2 is internal HDD, so you'll kill 2 birds with one stone.

The ones behind the free software has no connections to the ones who sell hardware with the software packed in. In fact, FMCB's license states limitations on pricing and distribution for whoever who wants to sell MCs with FMCB installed in.
In any case, you can always request help from any friend or community member who lives nearby and has a console ready to run homebrew...
But, now in 2023, there's not too many people around like back in 2008...

I haven't checked the licensing of Free McBoot thoroughly so there's something I didn't know on top of a few other things I didn't know in the PS2 scene.

As for the number of people in the PS2 scene in 2008 versus 2023, that's naturally the case with anything, especially when with legacy hardware, comes with it rarity, but in 2023, I may be wrong in my assumptions/observations, but there's surprisingly (and seemingly) more sellers popping up on "normie" outlets like Amazon and eBay than before, especially with a somewhat slowly but rising popularity in retro gaming, not to mention sketchy emulation boxes preloaded with ROMs/ISOs popping up on said sites too

That's how I got FMCB for the first time, using a friend's mod-chipped Ps2 to run the FMCB installation disc.

A long time ago I would do it for free, people only had to send me their memory card and pay me the cost of return and packaging if necessary.
I will have done it for you as for all the others, I can do it again if anyone is interested !!!
