I think alexander meant the problem is with PS2 burned discs, cobra uses ps2_netemu.self and this emulator type doesnt supports optical media, so the patch to "load ps2 backups from burned optical media" cant work as it is

My guess is this could be solved by coding some intermediary stuff that creates a "virtual iso map" by taking advantage or rawseciso... and then "feed" ps2_netemu.self with that virtual iso

Another option discussed before (iirc it was joonie who had the idea) is to use ps2_softemu.self to run the burned dvd, because this emulator type allows for optical media

Both should work theoretically, but the good is the first one because softemu was abandoned by sony (for a good reason) and they focused all his efforts in improving netemu... so netemu is the way to go

Whats the difference between soft and net emu?

Whats the difference between soft and net emu?
Both are 100% software emulation, what happened is softemu was included first in the firmware and later softemu was replaced by netemu
All sony ps2 emus are based in the same code but for netemu they modifyed how the CELL SPUs are used, this is an important change that made netemu a lot more efficient (so they was at a point where they gave a F%$# about softemu and they abandoned it)

Another difference is softemu is intended to run only real PS2 discs inserted in the drive... so the CONFIG files used for the games are included inside ps2_softemu.self (it contains a big database of configs that was very handy for the scene to understand how this works)
Netemu doesnt have that CONFIG files inside it... because the CONFIG comes included with each game packaged as a "PS2 clasic"

Now unnofficially we can "feed" netemu with an ISO and a CONFIG without the need of packaging them, thats good because simplifyes things

How well does the recent version of this CFW run PS2 Games like the Castlevania series that came out on the PS2? Damn I love those Castlevania games! Have they released any for the PS4, Etc?

Technically, it's not the cfw but Cobra files that are responsible for running ps2 games on non backwards compatible consoles.
Different Cobra cfws use the same Cobra source files & run emu compatible ps2 game with the same result.
Cobra gets maintained/updated by Rebug team members so Rebug/habib CFWs are the fw that introduce any changes/updates to Cobra.
Ferrox like the other Cobra CFW reuses the Cobra source published by Joonie & there is no reason to expect better ps2 emu performance on one fw or another.

You should refer to the compatibility list thread to get info about Castlevania titles.
