PS3 [FIXED with noBD] At first I thought Webman had seemingly *bricked* my PS3 slim.

So as the title says, Webman has bricked my PS3, and i'm at a loss for what to do... had spent a great bit of time getting my old PS3 up to date, and back online when after a reboot no homebrew would load anymore and just blackscreen(which was an issue before i began fixing it) so i tried to do as i had just done earlier and re-install my firmware. I upgraded from 4.75.1 to 4.84.2 so went ahead and re-installed 4.84, only for webman to dissapear upon rebooting after the update. Now after having tried everything from restoring file system, to straight up formatting the HDD i'm now stuck on 4.84.2 Cobra DEX without any FTP, or homebrew acces. I can install .pkg's but cannot launch anything without it giving me a black screen. Meaning i cannot acces Rebug Toolbox, i can not turn off Webman or acces it via, neither the PS3 or the web on my mac. So i have zero acces to the file system, and cannot go to cex, to install ofw > hfw > cfw and i don't know what to do at this point. I have tried literally everything.

This has nothing to do with WebMAN MOD. By your statement, the problem has been present AFTER WebMAN MOD was installed. And some custom stuff does not remain in your console after a FW reinstall/update.

So, if you want to reinstall Rebug Toolbox, use a USB stick and install the PKG with it.

Also, you can download it from https://store.brewology.com/ into your PS3 (but the USB method is easier).

black screen when trying to launch content is usually related to broken/disconnected BD drive.

you could try installing a "noBD" firmware. But you're on DEX so be sure to find a DEX compatible firmware.

Yes exactly? The problem arose after Webman was involved. And based off that and my research into people with a similar issue i am to conclude the issue stems from Webman, i specifically believe it has something to do,with the way it mounts games having an effect on other stuff. As mounting a game allowed me to launch an app once, but upon quitting to the XMB it would blackscreen and stay stuck like that.

My issue now, is that i cannot launch any sort of application whatsoever. And Webman has stopped loading upon boot so i am completely locked out of doing anything. I have tried updating firmware, re-installing firmware, re-installing Webman, rebuild database, restored file system, restored PS3, formatted HDD, and freshly installed firmware upon that. Nothing works, i cannot launch any homebrew app whatsoever, i can not access Webman, or do any sort of FTP to reach the file system. So I'm at a loss, i cannot acces Rebug Toolbox cause it'll get stuck in a black screen a second after opening, the same goes for Multiman, Webman, you name it won't boot/start. Every single thing just sits stuck on a black screen. So i can't switch to CEX, and install OFW, i can't access the file system to delete anything causing the issue, and fresh installed FW be it from either settings, or recovery mode doesn't clear the issue. It's persistent across updates, HDD wipes… nothing seems to fix it. I'm at the point where I believe the only fix is a hardware flash. But i really don't want to invest in an E3 flasher for that. Can get a whole new PS3 for the same price. But I would love to save this one as I've had it for over a decade, and it has sentimental value more so than monetary. :)

Any suggestions, or help is very much appreciated and welcomed! :)

This has been the thing I've been thinking of trying next, BD is not faulty at all though… and I get no errors when doing firmware installation or anything else. I believe something has gone wrong on a deeper than HDD level, but I'm no developer or software engineer so i don't know. I've tried everything i could come up with myself.

but will try this! :)

So yeah, found a no bd, everything works as supposed too now… genuinely embarrassed for myself. But thank you so much!

WMM is SPRX plugin, it doesn't do anything than patching stuff of one fly, using Cobra payload and xai_plugin. It can modify SysCon but only temperature stuff. IF you i.e removed WMM from plugins.txt om dev_hdd0, it means WMM has been pacified and none issue related to WMM can persisting. That's why your statement have zero sense and source of issue is somewhere else.
