Looking for some advice for flashing a backup of my NAND to my fat CECHA model ps3 that seems to have a corrupted NAND (will not boot into XMB, and can't get it to recognize any HD even in recovery mode). This happened when trying to upgrade to a 1.5 tb HD. I was following instructions given to me by a fellow psx-place member who stated I could accomplish this by downgrading to 4.46 CFW. I did just that, it seemed to initially accept the drive, it formatted it, and showed the correct amount of space. It was when I was trying to upgrade back to 4.88 CFW, that everything went to hell. It copied the update file (or at least it seemed to), but instead of triggering the install, the ps3 just shut off, and since then it won't let me do anything with it. Can't even restore it in recovery mode. Just keeps on saying system storage not recognized, and yes i've tried several other HD's since then to see if I could just get it to take. Nothing.
I am not looking to downgrade if I don't have to, just looking to restore a backup. I've been reading up and watching video's of using a Teensy 2.0 to accomplish this task but everything I read on it seems to be focused on downgrading. Is it possible to just verify the NAND dumps using one of the verification tools, patch it, then flash to the NAND? I take it after that I would have to put the console in factory service mode to install firmware? If anyone is an expert with this kind of thing, i'd greatly appreciate your advice. Also just looking for the most painless way to accomplish this, so whatever hardware tips you have are greatly appreciated.
