PS3 Frankenstein PHAT PS3: CECHA with 40nm RSX

Ohms all healthy, clean error log. I'll happily slap a 2 year warranty on it!

edit: I'm wondering if we just haven't seen a lot of high run times yet because the stuff we're working on here with the swaps and syscon is generally for fixing broken consoles. This is from a working console that never had any problems and I was just harvesting the chip. So these factory best specimens don't have a lot of representation in our data.

Just did another COK-001 with a 65nm that I had sitting here. 3 second YLOD, A0403034, really low ohms, fixed and running fine after swap.

Also, I grabbed the uptime for the donor chip. What's the current record? This little guy had about 650 days, and was still over 4 ohms.

I feel like one I did recently had like 800+ days ill check again sometime soon :-)

well that beats my 512 day console, but booter had one with 800. so that's the record so far. I guess you're in second place. Congrats?

@RIP-Felix @Computer Booter

So, what you guys are saying is..... start a scoreboard? I'm in!
I like this idea.

BTW on that thread @sandungas linked the record was 840 days (2101B). At least among those listed in the spreadsheet the OP posted. I didn't read the whole thread. Crazy to think booters lasted as long as a tokinless slim with a 40nm RSX. I wonder how many reballs that console had!

I love how you're all nonchalant about it. 'Yeah, I got one working.'

Then there's me, where the post is no less than 5,000 words!

Squeept and I believe David Rainer are stateside and from what I've been following have worked the bugs out for mass production. It's just a matter of a pm at this point, and when you are ready to send one of your prized possessions...., right guys? Feel free to chime in here to the peanut gallery....lol. not like we are waiting or anything

Once my personal life calms down, I'll start doing some favors around here under the table, probably early summer.

And since I've started listing some of these, I'm getting a lot of questions from customers. I hate turning people down, but I'm just unwilling to offer repair services in a professional capacity. I've already turned away someone and sent them to @Computer Booter, is it okay if I point people to your website when they're dead set on repairs instead of a trade-in? Who else around here is operating "professionally" that wouldn't mind if I throw your name at people when they insist on repairs instead of taking the trade-in option? @DeadEnd?

edit: in the USA

Unfortunately I don't plan on offering this "professionally" either. Too much effort with questionable rewards. At least this is how I feel for the moment... Perhaps later on I could consider one-off "favors" to a few people I trust...

Having said that, I'm still planning to test out my new jig at some point and make a video of the whole thing.... Additionally, I was hoping to sell modded models every now and then . However even this plan has not materialized in a way I had hoped (Japan post seems to have lost my packages with a bunch of CECHAs).

@squeept I'll be offering the service, you can send them to the discord and have them message me. Thanks! :)

You're going to need to charge enough so people don't decide it's cheaper to buy a YLOD console and send that for the service. Then get mad it didn't work.

Have you thought about stipulations?

Edit: I personally will not be offering my ghetto services, but if I did, I would have to charge a flat rate fee for the attempt, regardless the outcome. You still have to do all the work and use up a good RSX in the attempt.

I'll gladly send one of my BC models for this. Probably my CECHA as I am very protective over my CECHB with the teensy++. Mind dropping me a PM with how to go about this.

I offered consumer repair contracts for the first 5 years or so I was in business around 2005. I do some local work for places that I have a working relationship with, and that's it. There is no amount of money that would make me go back to doing consumer contracts. My expected average transaction if I did that for fat PS3 would be to talk to the customer, have them tell me "it was working until a few days ago then it got the YLOD for no reason, I don't know what's wrong with it" then send me a box of heatgunned smashed up disassembled parts dripping flux and thermal paste. When you message them again to explain that there was nothing you could do, that's when the real fun starts.

"YOU HAVE TO FIX IT, SO JUST GIVE ME A NEW SYSTEM FOR FREE"
"I WANT MY MONEY BACK EVEN THOUGH IT WAS A LABOR CHARGE AND YOU SPENT FIVE HOURS TRYING TO RESURRECT MY BULLSHIT AND I WAS WARNED THE FEE WAS NONREFUNDABLE"
"YOU CAN'T CHARGE ME MORE THAN THE QUOTE! YOU SAID IT WOULD BE X EVEN THOUGH I LIED ABOUT EVERYTHING THAT WAS WRONG! I'M TAKING YOU TO COURT!"
"YOU'RE JUST SWAPPING OUT MY PARTS WITH YOUR OWN TRASH SO YOU CAN STEAL MY GOOD PARTS!"
"MY DOG DIED AFTER YOU SENT IT BACK, YOU OWE ME A NEW DOG!"

I sometimes think that "PS3specialists" horrible reputation might just be because he's the only person still advertising "professional" repair services for these things, so he gets all the crazies that I politely ask to leave me the hell alone.

That could be. I've never used PS3specialist's services personally and only think he's got a bad reputation based on those negative reviews. It could be slander...IDK really. I've just stayed away cuz I didn't want to take a chance. That and I wanted to learn to reball anyway.

Yeah and if offering something like this as a service, you will also get the "other" kind of customer that just has unrealistic expectations.

That comes thinking this is some sort of "upgrade" or something. A way to make the thing "last forever".
The same guys that were replacing the tokins as a "preventative maintenance" etc etc...
And then are surprised when the old complex machines eventually kick the bucket anyway... Or dont even survive the process.

Except now they would be placing this responsibility on to the surgeon too. Explicitly or implicitly...
So it can be a risky game.

Hey, many people get heart problems as they get old right? So... Even though I'm healthy I'll get a heart transplant from different person now and that way I'll be safe right?
