PS3 Frankenstein PHAT PS3: CECHA with 40nm RSX

I bought 2 random cecha00 from japan. One had glod, after hdmi reset it is 40nm fully working cecha00 for $35. Second one has ylod. After disassembly I found 40 sticker on usb. I checked syscon logs. It looks like rsx tokins swap will fix it
where did you find it at that price? o.o'

I did it, guys! I successfully made Frankie at the first try without any prior BGA experience. I bought a YLOD B00 in Japan for only $25. At first, it showed GLOD, but after reflowing some resistors around the RSX and the BD3504 it finally showed the beautiful XMB screen.

Is it possible to swap the RSX on DYN-001 slims with a 65nm chip for a 40nm one? Does it require any hardware modifications, like resistor or voltage mod to work??

Has anyone ever seen Sony North America do this mod? Ive seen plenty of A00's and E00's from Japan but never an A01 or E01 from NA until today. My customer didnt even know what they had until I asked them about it.

It's not as common but it does happen. I've found one out of the few hundred I've bought so far.

Anyone done this on a CECHG01? Trying to figure out how to do the voltage mod. I see and IC labeled D35231 near the TOKINs on the RSX but I cant find any data sheets on it.

Hello. Who can help with advice?
I made Frankie 40nm cechc08, there is no sound via HDMI and multi AV, but there is sound via optics. What are the options for solving this problem, and where should I look?

Check ic audio.. maybe damaged during assembling

Reset the audio settings. If you go into display settings and set it to HDMI it will ask you config the audio settings. Try that and see if it helps. If you dont need the data on it just reset the console to defaults.

Thanks for the advice, I did it and changed the firmware.

There is no sound, but there is a toslink

Where does the chain of connections begin? Why is the sound present in the optics, where is it formed and distributed in formats, and in which chip?

There are no service manuals for lot of PS3 models
At this point the easyest way to check it is by searchng in forums dedicated to reballing, i remember to read there are some RSX compatibles with others but in groups

Another way to check it is because for the reballings are needed some metal sheets named "stencils" that are a pattern with hundreds of holes to place the solder balls correctly

I see you're very active on the forum, but I'm not sure how to post a help request. I replaced the RSX chip in a PS3 Slim 3000. It had a CXD5300A1GB (which was shorted out), and I installed a 40nm version, the CXD5301. Now I'm getting a red screen with white text. This is my first time doing this. Could you tell me if it's an incompatibility issue or a NAND problem? Thanks.

Hello I need help with cechc03 frankie 40nm gpu from a super slim,

So everytime I try to apply overvolt. The checksum refuses to be Fixed. But when reverting to stock voltage by typing w 3111 FF checksum gets fixed. I tried to run the ps3 with overvolt without fixing the checksum as long it dont turn off. And overvolt is applied and I managed to get 900mhz 1.3v but still if I fully unplug it itll triple been since the checksum isnt fixed. And everytime I try to fix it, nothing changes the sum stays there. And gives me another sum to fix everytime I try to fix the overvolt sum. The 2nd sum can be fixed but the overvolt sum only gets fixed if reverted to stock volts

Hi guys I have this 60gb ps3 that just doesn't want to work, errors 3034, 4401, 3003, I have already replaced the capacitors on the CELL side without solution, I attach log, any help is appreciated.

The RSX CELL or SB is bad or needs a reball.

Remove the BD drive and see if the 3003 error persists.

I solved it with this PS3; the problem was the MOSFETs powering the CPU. I'm struggling with another PS3 where I followed the entire procedure as usual with the RSX 40Nm. Originally, it had error 2102. Now, after the change, it has instant YLOD, and with errlog, it doesn't show any error codes.

UPDATE:
I solved the problem. I replaced the RSX 40 nm with another one, and the PS3 turned on. This problem is strange, though. The first RSX 40 was unsoldered from a working PS3 Slim, and all the measurements are normal. I don't understand why it didn't work.

Hi guys, I need help on a PS3 COK-002. The PS3 turns on and shows a black screen, and after 20 seconds it turns off by itself. I only notice that before turning off the hard disk's orange LED lights up, without giving a YLOD error and without giving a flashing red LED. It turns on and off, the syscon does not show any errors. Any help is appreciated. I have never had such a strange problem.
