PS2 Free MCBoot Home Screen with VGA Screen

Hello everyone,

i am currently trying to build my own PS2 Portable.
So i installed FreeMCBoot onto my MC. When I hook up my PS2 on a Screen via AV out Free MCBoot is displays just fine.

I wired a 1024*600 7inch screen diectly to my PS2 (Slim) via VGA. Unfortunately the Videomode(Resolution?) of FreeMCBoot (And also the MC Browser and PS2 Menu itelf) is not supported by the Screen.
I also had problems with OPL and Games but i could change OPL and Game Video Modes to VGA inside OPL Settings. This works just well.

I also configured FreeMC to boot directly to OPL whenever I power up the PS2.
So far so good. But i wonder if there is a way to change the Videomode of FreeMCBoot so it will show on my VGA screen. I just found a way to change the text color in the FreeMCBoot settings.

Yeah this beauty isn't quite finished yet.

I don't have a photo right now while it's running but I'll add that later if you want.

The screen is from a manufacturer called Topincn. It is a 1024x600 7 inch screen. The Controller board has 1xHDMI, 1xVGA and 1xAV port.

Inside OPL I did get a signal when I chose a setting called VGA 800x600 I think. I also managed to get run higher resolution video modes but I don't remember how they were called in OPL.

So basicly my question is if I can somehow upscale the Freemcboot main screen to at least VGA 800x600.

What about "GSM"?

Alternatively, use the HDMI-Port and a good&lag-less converter!

What is GSM exactly?

I actually have an Hdmi converter. But it did not upscale my games. Also Gman Modz who is responsible for a lot of console portables suggested me to use VGA with the h-sync + v-synch signals of the Ps2 with this screen.

When GSM launches.. it launches in NTSC or in PAL V-mode.
Theatrically you can choose VGA settings ( :but tri: ) blindly... and exit... to browser.

OK this seems to be one workaround I could live with since I don't really need to boot into Freemcboot all the time.

I just wanted to have an option in case I want to access Browser and FMCB menu.

I'll check GSM out
