PS3 Frequent crashes on Gran Turismo 6

Recently I managed to find a copy of GT6, and I've noticed that after an hour or two of gameplay the system freezes up. The PS button doesn't return it to the XMB, and the power button doesn't work regularly, rather needing to be held down to force a power off which requires the system to check the filesystem when it powers back on.

I have not had this issue on any other games that are demanding on the system such as TLOU and Gran Turismo 5, so I reckon it is an issue with Gran Turismo 6, rather than with my system. Has anybody else had this issue?

The disc doesn't have any visible signs of rot or significant damage, just regular wear.

My initial thought was overheating or failing hard drive. Being that you said it only happens with that one game leads me to believe possible disc issue. Have you tried other games from disc and they are fine?

You could try dumping game to iso or rip from multiman. Then if issue still persists, it's not a disc problem.

Overheating isn't unlikely tbh.

I did remove the plastic HDD cover yesterday as there was a bit of dust buildup on the vents on that piece and found an awful lot of dust behind the panel, so I think it may be safe to say it is overheating :p

I only recently got this PS3 after my previous one YLOD'd itself, and haven't had the time to do a thorough cleaning, so I probably should get that done...
