Game Backup From Internal HDD

After running jailbroken pretty flawlessly for most of the year my PS3 has begun acting bizarrely. The games menu has moved directories into odd places and some things are missing or don't appear correctly so I want to wipe and rebuild it but I don't want to have to copy every disk to the internal HDD again. Is there a way to copy all the game data onto an external? Instead of having to copy each game, one at a time, is there a batch copy or something like that? Also is it just the games folder that will need to be backed up before wiping?
 
Yes, all games can be copied to an external but as for PlayStation only PS1 & PS3 games can be "played from external". PS2 games can be copied to external but you won't be able to play them unless you copy them to the internal drive first, unless you have a 1st gen fat maybe.

As for other types of games ran via homebrew emulators, it will vary... For instance, I have never been able to get RetroArch to run games from external so I have to install them internally but there are standalone ports of RetroArch (like SNES9X) that can run games externally.

External harddrive has to be FAT32 format... and the 1.5TB limitation is able to be bypassed if you format the external using Wii Backup Manager. I use a 4TB MyBook to store all of my game and mod backups.
