PS2 Game list cache - for SMB

Howdy Folks,

I built an Raspberry Pi 8tb SMB server it my PS2 FAT using the original HDD bay and network adapter. The Pi is powered off the 12v from the HDD power. It's pretty amazing.

The issue is that loading OPL each time (and after a IGR) OPL takes about 30-45 seconds to load the game list. Also when scrolling through each game the Art takes about 3 seconds to load.

I see that there is a feature in OPL to cache the game list for HDD. The post here describes how it works and the time saving it enables. https://www.psx-place.com/threads/need-help-with-fresh-install-of-internal-hdd-opl.35760/

I have been thinking and it would be technically possible to cache the SMB game list (and art) on either the internal HDD or the new MX4SIO.

Is this something that others would be interested in?

It could simply be cached in a FILE on SMB (or the used device).
Doesn't it already do that??
