getting openBOR running via Linux?

So I was bored and found an old blackrhino linux distro that can run from an elf. I was wondering if I went at it to essentially gut it to nearly core components and then install just what was needed to run openBOR if what was left at the end would be powerful enough to make an almost openBOR app. Both are debian based so it feels like it should be possible just no idea how slow it will run and if it's worth the time to try, has anyone done this before?

PS - I did find some old version before that was an iso but they seemed to never work when I put in newer openBOR files.

Good question, I'm also interested in knowing if it is possible, hopefully someone with more knowledge can answer you.
I'm about to have a go at adding the openBOR v3 build 6391 to the pal large from here and then running it via usb, it will be slower to load than a streamlined hdd install but if it works someone who knows how to chop about linux faster than me might take it up as a weekend project to removed bits that aren't needed and then build a simple gui page that it boots into.

I got the linux booting up but only from the USB drive so didn't get as far as trying to install. Getting it HDD running is a big part of it I think to overcome speed issues.
