The motherboard is a new revision for sure, look at this, the "bumps" in the metal shields are designed to adapt to some component of the motherboard located under them, so... by looking at the differences of the metal shields we can get an idea of some of the components that was upgraded or removed in the motherboard

The 3 "squares" marked in red seems to be removed... and the area marked in blue have changed too for some reason
Overall... are the surroundings of the APU... and 2 of the red squares seems to be located in the power block (the 2 red squares at bottom in the photo)

By the way, the chip shortage is causing problems for Sony and PS5 production is lagging. Regardless of what Sony says, the chip shortage will continue for this year i think.

https://www.cnet.com/tech/computing/ps5-shortage-might-be-over-as-sony-secures-more-chips/

And PS5 shortage and console shortage in general means there is no price cut in PS4 prices which everyone expected after PS5 launch. The price cut will happen next year when chip shortage ends.

The shortage is effecting a ton of stuff. Another market taking a huge hit is cars. It is so bad for the first time in history used cars are going up in value. The manufacturer I work for has literally thousands of cars sitting in wait for more chips. Samsung and Apple are paying top dollar to get older phones to get some parts from. We have been braced for this to happen for 12-18 months minimum. Video cards are hard to get in hear as well. All that being said I don't see it clearing up anytime soon. Bots and scalpers aren't making it any easier either.

I vote for don't care because I cannot buy a console which:
  • looks ugly
  • doesn't allow me to backup my saves and other content (even at least in crippled form like on PS4).
  • have soldered and married to motherboard extremely intensively used SSD
  • doesn't allow me to change internal mass storage device
  • doesn't have next gen titles
  • have games with prices 3 times larger than before
  • cost around one month salary
  • isn't backward compatible with PS3, PS2 and PSX; and PS4 is based on whitelisting
This is ridiculous anti-consumer piece of shit for me.
This is very, very accurate lol. Couldn't have said it better myself.

doesn't allow me to change internal mass storage device
At least this has changed. In current fw Sony allowed user to put his SSD. But the question is: i will work if internal SSD dies (i.e put into read only state, bad blocks etc.)? I doubt, so this doesn't change anything so much.

doesn't have next gen titles
Now have three next gen titles. :D Remake of "Demon's Souls", "Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart" and "Returnal".

PS5 has got first revision and its weight reduced by 300 gms. The model CFI -1XXX is revised to CFI-11XX. Don't know what Sony has changed internally.
Maybe im late to the party, but as far as i know they changed the WIFI Module from the previous 1000 Series, from 4 antennas to 2, and downgraded the heatsink, from a big chunky cooper block to a smaller aluminum one, and now i dont regret buying mine on launch day.

my friend got a ps5 from playstation.com a week or two ago, probably could've gotten one as well. however, I'm not all that interested in the system tbh.

It's a solid system if you never had a PS4, but too many of the same games are released for both PS4 and 5, so probably not worth it if you own a PS4. I never gamed on the PS4, so I have that library of games to check out. And, you get PS5 versions of games often free or for like $10 extra, which is more than can be said for the switch and its wiiu ports, paying full price again.
