PS3 Got handed PS3. Need help jailbreaking

Just got a PS3 and a box of games for free. I tried following the instructions but ps3xploit seems to be down. Is there a howto guide on how to get it unlocked w/o using this? It's got FW 4.86 running on it.

You can use @Coro github page if you want to install HEN. Use the Alternate installer.

Great. Thank you. I take it that I use the version that matches my firmware? I tried the alternate installer at the link, but it says I have to install the hybrid firmware first.

Currently installing HEN 3.4.0 on OFW 4.80 to 4.82 and HFW 4.83 to 4.92

What's your HFW ?

How do I find that?

Hey, since I can't post on https://www.psx-place.com/threads/ps3xploit-website-and-server-status.39795/page-5 ; I just wanted to say that I successfully installed HEN using Coro's GitHub page — but only after setting my PS3 to the correct date (it was on the default date before). Hope this helps others who are having trouble.

Was that before or after installing hfw? I didn't check that date part

Setting up current date & time? Doesn't matter when, but for sure before HEN installing due to RTC is used for SSL, and SSL for web browsing and licensing.

Keep in mind that with dead CMOS battery, you will get issues here and there.

Ok I made a mistake....I have System 4.86. Will that 4.92 HFW still work?

@kruuth Yes, you can simply install 4.92 HFW over 4.86 OFW that you are currently on.

Great thank you. Then what? What do I do if I want to run ISO files or something? Is there a guide for this?

Then you can install HEN using Coro's link provided by ShaolinAssassin earlier in the thread, selecting the Alternate installer.

After you have HEN installed you can install homebrew such as multiMAN, ManaGunZ, IRISMAN etc to backup your game discs (you said you got a box of them along with the console) to ISO format and store on internal/external HDD so you won't need to use the game disc to play them.
