I've just done this mod myself on a B00 unit. I can confirm that it not only works, but also works on OFW and CFW 4.92 evilnat. Amazing work Matt. The only parts I really struggled with were my own understanding of how the FSM jig I had worked (hadn't used it before), but otherwise super straight forward. This is the definitive B00 wifi mod.

THANK YOU!!!

Great work Matt, and thanks for sharing, I had a go at this myself earlier in the year, looking through your tutorial I had found most of the differences between the A and B boards but I had missed the removal of R3516 and R3517.

I'm going g to have another go at this now, thanks again

Just to add another use case for this guide here (as i've just fixed the unit below).

I had a B00 which I had cell set swapped with an A00. The ethernet and wifi didn't work as a result (but were available in the firmware/XMB). Matts guide for adding wifi to the B00 (just the hardware part not the software) has fixed both the ethernet and wifi. So long story short, you can cell set swap a B00 with an A00 and then add the missing SMD to get internet working. Strange usecase I know but it was a board I had just sitting there from ages ago

During the mod process, I encountered the message that the controller could not be sync and the connection error was reported. The ribbon cable was damaged. After replaced the ribbon cable it still not working. when i checking the circuit, I found that the added TH3702 was damaged... replaced it and finally worked perfectly. Many thanks to Matt.very detailed tutorial!

I made a bracket to install antenna, it uses M3 heat insert and can be fit to the RF shield by melting the 3 posts on the back, also you can use glue to secure it.it will not interfere any components.
