PS3 (Guide) Jailbreaking With Bgtoolset

I did not update the FW because the BD drive does NOT work. From what I understand that would cause it to be bricked or looped or something else worse than what I have now. I did notice the blue laser flash on quick, but it won't spin. The control board in the drive is a BMD-003 and the laser chassis is stamped with KEM-410ACA. From the info I've found those numbers didn't come until after the CECHA. So I assume whomever I got this from tried fixing it by putting a different BD drive in it.
So this evening I'll set the date and time manually and patch it. If that works I'll install CFW noBD and report back. Thanks for the help I really appreciate it!

Set your console's date and time manually and apply the flash patch with BgToolset.

Once you've done that and restarted your console, then proceed to install CFW noBD. Don't worry about the version, you can downgrade to FW 4.80 once you are on any CFW.

Do one step at a time and come back with your status if need help :)

Well that was relatively uneventful…just the way I like it! I set date and time manually and it patched just fine. So why does there seem to be an emphasis on setting via internet as if there are consequences to having an inaccurate clock(like setting manually instead)?

I also installed 4.19.2 noBD and then the full version of 4.19.2, both with no issues. The Blu-ray drive married with no errors. Unfortunately, it still won't read any discs. I wanted to do some more trouble shooting and post it with this update, but I haven't had time. This is the only duel laser I have, the rest are all single. So I ordered some extra drives and lasers for troubleshooting. Thanks again.

It's just convenient to let the time server to set the date and time, in order to keep all the services in sync. But setting it manually works the same only if you set it correctly.

I want to be sure to continue on psxplace's owned bgtoolset. But not sure what should I use.
There is the **ps3xploit.com >Domain no Longer owned by team** (ps3xploit.me =new)
And ther is another ps3exploit.me. Which to use 2025 January? Thanks

ps3exploit.me doesn't exist. The URL points nowhere.
