i wasn't been able to find this info anywhere on the net,i come to it myself,so here it is:

for proper full ftp speeds it is crucial to stay on single file transfer.fillezilla by default enables 2 simultaneous transfers and that,at least in my experience limits speed to about 4-5 mb/s and total to about 10 mb/s.

to change that in fillezilla go to edit - settings - transfers - maximum simultaneous tansfers - change to '1'.

also, fastest ftp servers in my experience are webman (always on in background) and rebug.

you don't need cat6 cable,cat5e is enough.

i hope this would be useful to someone!

I'll give

I'll give this a try next time i update my games

Fastest FTP implementations are the one in iris/man, and inside rebug toolbox
Webman have the FTP speed capped on purpose to avoid problems (there is a talk about it here somewhere in the forum)

on my setup there is no difference in rebug toolbox and webman (latest one -1.47.09).

also,by default i go to custom internet/lan connection on PS3 and change to 1000 full duplex T (last mode) as i read somewhere that helps also, but i didn't test it myself.

When used as a .sprx plugin there are scenarios where it could cause problems because by definition you can run a plugin together with other app/game running. And that app/game is making use of a part of the hdd access bandwith (all games uses internal hdd for storing "cache" files and also to read the "gamedata" installation files)
If you try to access hdd by FTP at the same time... then problems could happen (the app/game crashes, or incomplete ftp file transfers)
This is why the ftp implementations inside plugins are "capped" in speed as a prevention meassure. The root of the problem is it is very hard to know how much bandwidth is available for the FTP

The same could happen with the lan/wifi bandwith usage i guess (incase the app/game is doing some online stuff)

and that relates to this topic in what way?
Because the FTP plugins are not making any calculation to know how much hdd/lan/wifi bandwith is available for FTP
As far i remember, what the ftp code inside plugins does is to limit the speed at ALL times... in plain words is "capped" permanently

This doesnt happens in apps like iris/man or inside rebug toolbox, when you are inside this apps they are not doing any hdd usage and the ftp speed is unlocked

sorry,i still don't see the point,do i need to post screenshots tho show to you that on the same file webman and rebug performs the same and more importantly perform to a full potential of ps3 lan?ok,it's somewhat useful to know that if doing someting else at xmb maybe webman won't perform at max because of that, but that comes logical.

that speed was with multiple simultaneous transfers that's enabled by fillezilla by default.so there fillezilla was the problem, not ftp server.that speed was also in webman, rebug and multiman,so it's safe to say problem was simultaneous transfers, not the ftp server version itself.

You don't "need" Cat6 if you're attempting gigabit connectivity. I still highly suggest Cat6 cabling as it's stronger and not much more expensive than Cat5e.

Forcing the duplex will help if your network switch is not auto-negotiating. It can become an issue if your switch does not support it (forcing 1000 full duplex on a fast ethernet switch will not work).

REBUG and openps3server are faster than webMAN's FTP server due to the "throttling" that webMAN employs to ensure system stability since it can run in the background.

The fastest upload speed that i've seen on webMAN is 21Mb/s using a gigabit switch and Cat6a cabling.

Rebug 4.82.2 Cobra 7.55 upload 20 Mb/s download 30 Mb/s default webman ftp and filezilla maximum simultaneous transfers is "1" transferring iso files

What's the fastest speed for wireless wifi upload to ps3 with ftp? Without using ethernet cales or any cables at all?

That would depend on your router and the limitations of the PS3, since it's a WLAN connection, but the most I've ever gotten, based on memory, is like 2MBs/s.
