PS3 Hacking & Jailbreaking the PS3

good day.

I don't know if I am on the right thread, but I'm just frustrated because I've been browsing all over the place but can't seem to find the answer

I have a ps3 super slim 4.82firmware and followed some tutorials over the internet and I managed to install some pkg's.

Now I've downloaded a NBA 2k17 and wanted to install it but based on the tutorial I need 2 files ACT.DAT and IDPS.HEX.

I've been searching for some information on how to acquire this files but unfortunately I'm a bit lost.

Can you please help me out on how to get this done.

By the way I was able to access han enabler on the ps3xploit site and manage to install atleast 1 game

The information you seek is widely available.

All the HAN Tools are accessible on the ps3xploit website under the HAN Tools v3.0 menu bar entry.
The ACT/IDPS dumper is one of those tools.

Install what firmware?
The latest ps3 update is 4.82.
The ps3xploit Flash Writer 2.0 currently only works with OFW 4.82 so if you wanted to know whether or not you can jailbreak your console on 4.82, the answer is YES, at the condition that your console is CFW compatible of course. ;)

So here i my prob
I installed ps3xploit on my compatible ps3 but when i install ps3 games or mods and launch them It says somthing like "an error occured during the start-up error 80010017" i dont know what to do. Im getting the same error with multiman.
Please help

It's perfectly normal that the gsmes you install don't appear in multiman.
HAN is NOT for cfw!
New CFW users must learn to use a customised firmware with games as iso images.

Need help installing cfw on PS3. Not sure If this is correct thread to post this.
I'm completely new to this so please forgive my ignorance. I have a ps3 SLIM on ofw 4.82. It's a CECH-2504B model. I did the MinVerChk check, said min fw= 3.40 therfore I can jailbreak right?

Now I want to use exploit v2.0 to jailbreak ps3 but my question is, is any method (Hdd or usb) a more safer option than another. Say for instance, if after patching with flash writer, I dump and the validation tool gives me errors/warnings in roso and ros1. In such a situation wud one method provide one with more chances of recovery than another or does it make no difference.

Also am I taking a huge or unnecessary risk If I use andriod Hotspot to connect ps3 to Internet to perform this jailbreak. In other words, will using mobile data significantly increase one's chances of bricking console. Thanks in advance

Yes you can jailbreak your console.

Use the following steps, don't omit anything.

No particular problem with using a hot-spot although WiFi is never ideal when it comes to ps3 network connections.

The only way to brick the console with the Flash Writer 2.0 is to flash a wrong or corrupted hex file.

You finally realize the ramifications of ALL THE WARNINGS put up long before you even clicked download.

If you do attempt this again, make sure you follow the rule of thumb: Make THREE dumps. validate ALL THREE. Patch ONE. Validate it. THEN write. IF you aren't sure of something....start from THE BEGINNING. If you don't understand EXACTLY what you are doing, or do not get EXACTLY the result of a READ operation, DONT WRITE!!!

A second point of advice: Backing up your computer is just as important.....don't wait for a disaster... ::wink::

You need to read A LOT MORE before you even think about downloading ANYTHING.
Step ZERO: Know your model number.
Step ONE: Read EVERYTHING you can to UNDERSTAND what you are doing, and evaluate if this is something you want to RISK.

It will make your life a TON easier, if you understand exactly what you're doing, and how before you even attempt.... you can see in the above comments what happens when you do not understand what you are doing... :)

Multiman & other backup managers are homebrews.
HAN doesn't support PS3 homebrews on OFW as you can see in the OP.

In the future, a new exploit might enable you to use homebrews on OFW, if such a hack is ever released, but currently you must have a CFW to run homebrews.

So, i have a ps3 cech 3004b, will this work on it and install multiman onto it as well as play ps3 iso downloaded games? min ver: 3.66

HI i need help ASAP i recently bought a ps3 for £30 with a broken disc reader it is a CechC fat model so i now currently have it on the latest version of rebug but when i try run homebrew applictaions i get a black screen what can i do?!

The big circuits board inside the bluray drive (a.k.a. the "daughterboard", containing the "bluray controller" chip) needs to be connected with the main motherboard at all times

Otherway, if is not connected you will experience 2 problems:
1) apps and games boots into a black screen (not usables)
2) firmware installations are interrupted before completed and you have a "broken firmware" loop

This rule only applyes to PS3 models older than CECH-25xx

There are some firmwares named noBD that bypasses this problems, but is better to have the daughterboard connected this way you can install all standard custom firmwares like if your PS3 was working normally (but without bluray drive if you decide to remove it to improve airflow, or with the laser lens fryed)
