PS3 Hacking & Jailbreaking the PS3

Hi, I am super confused! sooo many guides that I am getting myself wrapped in a knot, been out of this for too long :-D

Just picked up a CECH2003A SLIM on 4.66

Can I install CFW on this, if so, can someone please tell me the best guide to follow to do so, MASSIVE THANKS!!

update to ofw 4.86
use bgtoolset to jailbreak (save backup dump first)
reboot when it says in the popups
install rebug 486 pup
install rebug toolbox (under pkg manager it will be in there)
run toolbox and in last column "enable qa flag"
now consider install webman too...
 
I need help. I installed CCAPI developer on my PS3 super slim 4.86 hfw and after reboot it can't boot either normal or recovery mode. What to do?. Note* my TV says no signal!! . Some forums are saying: Remove the hard drive and get a new one.
 
I have got a problem. Recently, I installed CCAPI on PS3HEN and it bricked my PS3 Superslim. I entered Safe Mode, and it said down Cannot access to the hard drive. I thought the hard drive corrupted. I installed HFW 4.86.1 but it stuck. Screen was black. I restarted the PS3 and my TV said <<No signal>>. I tried Safe mode but same No signal. I noticed that when I turn on my PS3's hard drive light turned on for 1 second and it turned on again. I think it is hard drive problem. Should I change it? Where is the problem? *Note: I hadn't known CCAPI bricks PS3HEN consoles.

afaik, there's nothing that you can do. there's no hardware flasher for the superslim I believe, so it's permanently bricked.

Remove the HDD from the Ps3 and attach it to your PC.
Use any formatting software to re-format your HDD to NTFS.
Re-insert HDD back into Ps3.
Access safe mode and re-install firmware.
.....
Profit.

This is the only way to recover from a CCAPI brick and there is no way to save the contents of your HDD (games, saves, trophies, profiles etc etc)

According to this, yes.

I too thought CCAPI on Ps3HEN was a perma brick. But turns out it is just a soft brick.

Except that those using a 12Gb model without hdd cannot exactly reformat the internal hdd using a PC or whatever, for them, what should be a partial brick in theory turns into a perma brick in practice. At least afaik, I never tried it obviously. LOL

Noob here with hope that someone can help me out.
I have been trying to figure out as much as I can but I am just becoming confused.
I have a slim model CECH 2002A running 3.01 ofw and want to know the best way to apply CFW without bricking it.
Was all ready to go with 4.86 as suggested by Coro in post #525 but then read in the FAQ's at the start of this thread that anything below 3.55 should update to 3.55 and go from there.
Any help would be much appreciated. Much respect to those involved in making all this possible.

It's up to you really, both ways should work just fine & the end result is the same.

In theory you should be able to install a 4.8x CFW directly from pre 3.56 firmwares, there is no risk in trying to install a CFW PUP anyway, even if the installation fails.

If ever you have problems (but you shouldn't), it's easy enough to install a OFW 4.82 to 4.86, patch it with PS3 Toolset's Flash Memory Manager then install the CFW of your choice.

Could you help me? I want play hulk ultimate destruction(ps2) on ps3HEN but it is buggy and i dont find a config to fix it,i already searched on psdevwiki and there s nothing to this game,could you send to my gmail a config,i know i m probably asking this on the wrong place but i really want it. :)

I find nothing about hulk ultimate destruction on it,i will make a new thread,and hope anyone help me,thanks for the quick answer good work
