Should i wipe it with the HDD external on my PC or just with the PS3? I think the PS3 Wipe didn´t wiped it all the way
yes. the toolboxes may be a problem. ultimate toolbox doesn't go away completely even by formatting. one of them probably wrecked your enabler icon and maybe your act.dat file.

hello im not sure where to ask but after i installed hen, is the games that i already have safe to run? im assuming you just need to not enable hen to play it but doesnt hurt to ask here

All games that you already own and that have valid licenses will work as expected. HEN, as its name says, just enables execution of homebrew apps.

It won't break any official apps and games, as long as those have valid licenses as said before.

Hi,

I have a 2504A ps3.
It was jailbreaked when i bought it, with CFW Rogero 4.46 and a MM version.
Enjoyed it ever since, but now trying to update it to Evilnat 4.90.

And here's the question:
Can i just overwrite Rogero and flash with Evilnat / Cobra?

I would suggest you to install these CFW one after the other, since you are in such a low FW.

First, install CFW REBUG 4.84.2 REX.

If everything went OK, then install any CFW Evilnat 4.90.

Evilnat is still fine tuning CFW 4.91, so check it out when is out.

when i try to install hen the intilazation is succesfull but then says hen failure restart the ps3 and the error is check memory 0000008fcd i try to quick format but nothing working pls help

Seeeing the tutoral of mario, but it seems the method used for installing 4.84 cfw differs from 4.90?
Or can iuse the method Mario does also for 4.84?

Hello all. So I tried to google this and read various pages on this thread first before asking what may be considered a stupid or redundant question but i cannot find an exact answer about to the best way to go about this so I am hoping someone has some advice for me. If someone has already addressed this situation i would appreciate it if you could direct me to the correct thread but if not here is the situation. I have an original PS3 CECHA01 that i installed KMEAW 3.55 CFW back in 2011. This PS3 has sat in storage for the past 12 years and i just got it out and turned it on and it has a few old homebrew apps on there, an old multiman and one game installed on internal HDD. What would be the safest way to go about upgrading the firmware? Should i delete all the homebrew apps first and then update to OFW 4.91 then use ps3 toolset? or should i try and install OFW 3.55 First > then 4.91 then CFW 4.91 or is it safe to go from KMWEAW 3.55 CFW directly to Evilnat's CFW 4.91 CEX? The only reason i wanted to try go directly is i have an OLD PSN Account saved on there that i don't remember the password or email for but the password is saved so I'm assuming it would stay the same if i was to update directly? However i don't want to risk bricking this original PHAT PS3 so any advice and best steps to go about this would be greatly appreciated. If you recommend formatting the internal HDD i guess i could do that if that's safer too even if i lose that old PSN account.

you should be able to update to evilnat 4.91 directly. be sure to update multiman and webman mod. any other homebrew are likely old and may not be very useful anymore unless they have update.

Don't install any OFW or you'll have to go through bgtoolset, which is pointless. Just install Evilnat CFW directly. If it doesn't install properly (which can sometimes happen if the version difference is big) then you should just gradually update to higher CFW versions. Just make sure you always stay on CFW and never install any OFW or HFW.
If you have old plugins like the original webMAN then you should uninstall them first. Apps and games however are safe to keep. If you want to continue using multiMAN you should update it after updating the CFW. You should definitely also install webMAN MOD.

Regarding PSN - Unfortunately you can no longer use your regular PSN user / password to login to PSN on the PS3. Sony's disabled that option on 4.89 due to the PS3's outdated TLS security. Staying on a lower version will not help because it's also disabled on Sony's servers. You now have to use a PS3-specific device password to log to PSN on a PS3. You can generate a device password on the PSN website. You could probably extract your username / password from the PS3 if you have CFW (I assume it's somewhere in /dev_hdd0/home but probably someone else would know something more specific) then use that to login to PSN on your computer and then generate a device password to regain access to your account.

Hi all,
I'm fairly new to jailbreaking, although I have been emulating for a few years now.

A couple of years ago I jailbroke my fat PS3 with much success, and can now play most games straight from an external HDD, apart from PS2 games which I have to play from the PS3's internal hard drive after copying from the external drive, which is where my current difficulties come from. All games play fine with no problems, except recently any PS2 game I play, even ones that have worked for years, crashes soon after starting, and I can't explain why. I haven't made any changes to any settings, and they just suddenly won't work.

The only anomaly I can think of is that the Lego Star Wars PS3 collection used to crash on occasion, and only since then have I been having this problem. Does anyone have any suggestions?

What exactly happens when games crash?
Also, when you play PS3 / PS1 games, do the system fans happen to be louder than they used to?

Hi, sorry for lateness of my response. Thanks for replying!
Nothing unusual appears to happen when the system crashes. The game will play completely normal, no stuttering or other issues, and the fan sounds completely normal regardless of which kind of game I play. I saw that overheating can be a common issue, but the fan never sounds odd.

I'm actually a newbie in the PS3 modding comminity and i have got a question

2 days ago I repaired one of the phat PS3's I owned(CECHJ-04) and updated it into 4.91 OFW and today i installed evilnat 4.91 CFW with the help of a tutorial video and it works as a see(version number is 4.91 and when ps3 openes it says evilnat not ps3) but the problem starts here when i installed a package (like webMan mod or multiMan) it installs without any problems but when i tried to open the program it got into the black screen and nothing shows up (i tried to delete and reinstall every package i downloaded and opened it up without the usb drive plugged in) nothing just a whole black screen it flashes somewhere in between 3-4secs but then still nothings shows up on the screen can anybody help
(Sorry for my bad english if i made a mistake)

Could you try some other homebrew apps / games as well?
Also, regarding webMAN MOD - the pkg is actually just an installer. When you run it, it installs webMAN MOD as an XMB plugin. Is webMAN MOD being loaded when you restart?

P.S.
You might want to create a new threat for your question. It's a bit ironic but people tend to miss the pinned topics.
