PS3 HAN ban risks?? sharing information on my experiance

Hey, I didn't go through this entire discussion so I apologize if this has already been mentioned.

First off, you are always at risk using your main PSN account on any playstation 3 system that is HAN enabled, or otherwise modded in any form or fashion including custom firmware.
I have seen some deterrents that can be used to hide your activity such as erasing your game history that is stored internally in the PS3, which is used for showing certain games related to ones you've played, as well as other advertisement on the store. These however aren't fullproof either, there's always the risk of something unknown to us that sony could be using to check any user's activities.

I can give a few suggestions on how to protect your main account, although these may not be ideal to you if you are interested in collecting trophies. The only way I can think of to 100% secure your main PSN account would be to keep it off the system completely during your usage of the HAN exploit.
While these measures may be extreme for the normal user, you could do the following:
Factory restore your PS3 before installing/using the HAN exploit.
Only have your HAN USER account on the PS3.

This would keep any association with the exploit and your main account from happening, but again this still wouldn't be 100% as there could possibly be some sort of logs internally that doesn't get erased from the factory restore, or they could possibly see some form of history with IP addresses/mac addresses or something.

You take on the risk of a ban from using HAN, but depending on what you want to do with HAN, the risks may not be so bad.

I've had problems signing into PSN before even installing HAN, and now it seems I'm even more restricted as I haven't even been able to access the store as it keeps saying they are currently doing maintenance. Not sure if this has anything to do with using the exploit, but it's probably better for me to not get online anyway. I mainly enjoy single-player games such as RPG's, and most games that are still playable online on the PS3 I've grown bored of.

Also with regards to trophies, there is probably some form of timestamp or something similar that contains some kind of information that could potentially be linked to using the exploit. Don't take my word on this though.

On another note, if you value your PSN account as in the trophies you've obtained or have invested money in it buying games or DLC, I highly advise that you keep it as far away from the exploit as possible.

I have my main account on my HAN enabled PS3, and I've also accepted the risks and possible consequences that can follow with doing so. I do play my backups using my main account, and have even accidentally installed a few backups while on my main account... This is not recommended by the way, but as an extra precaution I've made the choice to keep my PS3 completely disconnected from the internet at this point to prevent any further activity from being logged on their end.

If you're interested in collecting trophies on your main account for personal reasons, and not so much for actually having them show up on your account on PSN, I suggest using a web server such as PKG Linker or any of the other alternative solutions to be able to activate HAN offline.

Unless you keep your system completely offline and your main PSN account off the system entirely, I really see no 100% sure way to protect your account. It's all up to you to weigh the risks and benefits of using HAN and what you want out of it. It's impossible to really know what sony could be doing to monitor one's activities on any given system.

If any of this information is wrong, I apologize and feel free to correct me, these are just my thoughts from information I've gathered on this topic.

In the end, it's really up to you to decide on how you want to attempt to use HAN. I hope this helps with your question somewhat.

I am all new to this scene. I am just wondering that even if you get banned, your saved games progress won't be affected right? Only the PSN account will be banned or the whole of the user id's will broke down?
If the case is that only PSN account will be banned, and nothing happens to games progress and injected games, then it won't be any problem for me I guess

Game saves on ps3 are not affected, neither are installed games.
However you can lose the PSN account & trophies permanently.
You can also get your console id banned.
On CFW you can "replace" the console id with a valid one in order to connect to PSN again. On OFW it's not possible for the moment so once banned you cannot connect to PSN again, even with a new account.

I see. Maybe that would be an issue.
How about enabling HAN once and then disconnecting the my PS3 from the Internet?
Disconnecting from Internet is not required & it won't help anyway.
The ban risks are not Internet related but PSN related. If you don't connect to PSN to play online you cannot get banned.

However, keep in mind that time goes by & there are still basically no ban reports. Only a couple of reports so far, made by kids, for thousands upon thousands of HAN users.
While you should remain cautious, for the moment, there isn't much reason to fear a ban.

This is the safest way to go right now. I've accidentally installed a few games on my main account (offline), so to be extra careful from here on out, I keep my ps3 offline indefinitely.

Also, the PS3's online lifespan is close to the end. May have another couple years left, we'll see.
It's probably not in Sony's interested to focus many resources on PS3 updates or patches at this point, since the PS4 is going strong, and I've read some rumors on them already discussing a PS5.

Don't take my word on this of course, it's just speculation at this point.
Bans are always a possibility, no matter how careful you are.

To most people here however, the rewards are well worth the risks.
Have fun!

I have the same thinking. PS4 is selling out a lot and PS5 is starting to be in rumours. And keeping a hard eye on an outdated consoles requires a lot of money, and a lot many ps3's are running cfw. No one is buying game discs anymore.
In a year or two I don't think anyone will even talk about the PS3

I'm rebuilding my playstation collection back up after a brutal theft a few years back. Nothing was ever recovered, so I may be a rare breed xD but I'm constantly on the hunt for good playstation games.

To me, it's not really about how new the games are. The games will always be out there, especially thanks to these methods.
Honestly, I hope there will always be a way to enjoy these games, even if its 50 years from now when we have crazy ultra giga high realistic VR resolution touch sensitivity battle suit + hologram rooms xD.

Certain games are timeless, it's just a new generation of gamers that aren't as interested in older games. Until they get bored one day, open their eyes, and discover them. :)

Hi, sorry if I^m writing in a wrong theme. I have a hacked PS3 4.82 OFW with HAN, but I want to play online in GTA V with my own disk licenesed game. Can i do this without any risk to be banned? I have two accounts, first was was not used after hacking PS3, second was made for hacking. Can I play online in this way with the first account?

you still have HAN installed on your PS3 (sonny can detect it) and right now I think you can have a problem with playing online because of the new 4.83 firmware that is required to play online and installing it means no HAN for the moment

It is maybe not the best thread for this question but still kind of related.
Next time, create your own thread if you don't know where to post. ;)

1. It's possible to play online with 4.82 if you use the local proxy pc app. There is a thread dedicated to it.

2. You should use your first account to play online however if you want to keep the ban risk to a minimum, you should first reinstall OFW 4.82 after installing all your games to get rid of any HAN file.
If ever you need the pkg manager again in the future, simply run the HAN installer, install the pkg files & reinstall ofw 4.82.

3. Be careful not to update to 4.83 by accident else you will lose HAN.

4. Be mindful of the ban risk even if it is low. You should reinstall OFW 4.82 to lower the risk however using a local proxy with 4.82 to fool the PSN servers is like any other workaround to use PSN when you are not supposed to be able to, it's a breach of TOS. If ever your console gets detected running 4.82 by a game server or by PSN itself, you could get banned. There is nothing you can do to change that, only unmodded 4.83 OFW used alongside official game files is 100% safe.

/\

@Otakon273 we have the same idea on removing HAN by installing OFW.

I thought about this banning on HANned PS3's and mine is HANned as well. If I plan to login to my main PSN, but prior to that deleted HAN > Restarted > Update from HFW 4.84 to OFW 4.84 would that be considered a clean system without traces of HAN.
