Hardware 5.55 jailbreak out of India/Pakistan?

sorta back on topic, but I think I've got themes figured out. I just installed the dragon quest heroes metal slime edition theme. the unlock pkg is the same as for free dlc. or rather, the process is the same. I was having difficulty with it at first. originally, the theme stayed locked, then it completely disappeared. I'm assuming that it's like the vita with theme components being recorded in the app.db. anyway, it wasn't working for some reason. after I restarted the system, the theme and unlock pkgs worked without issue, so I'm not really sure what the problem was. it took multiple attempts, and I think the unlocker and the theme were overwriting each other, but I'm not sure what could've happened with the theme disappearing. I did test it. the theme is permanent (without hen).

edit: I found out something new. apparently, if you switch to another theme while hen isn't enabled, the unlocked theme will become locked again. I assume it's recorded by the app.db, where a rebuild of the database is also likely to make the theme locked again -- if it's even read at all! it's fine as long as you have a backup of the unlocker, which is easy to make with this python script, and the original theme or don't change the theme. this is based on my knowledge about the vita. whether it's changing the default icons manually or even using a theme, I think in both instances they're reverted back when you rebuild the database or restore the system.

Oh come on mate, just a quick answer plzzzzz....(kitten face) hahahhaa
Rebug sometimes have problems installing not sure what or why, try with ferrox that is more simple
Or incase the USB pendrive never was used in PS3 for firmware installs (so you are not sure if is compatible) try with others... or format it (complete format, not fast)
Also, to be 100% sure the QA flags are enabled the best way is to make the secret button combo... if it works is because QA are enabled, no doubt

Edit:
Also, to assure a nice firmware installation, go to "recovery menu" and use the options "restore filesystem" and "rebuild database" in this order
Or better... format the hdd in PC so you start with a completly "clean" installation without tracks from the previous owner... your console, your files

I always thought that the issue with rebug was due to the update protection patch for the recovery menu. I briefly looked at the emer_init.self, and I didn't find anything wrong. rebug has the update folder structure as NOT/UPDATE/PS3UPDAT.PUP replacing PS3 with NOT. it's for the bd and bdvd from what I remember, so if that is the culprit, it's a strange bug that not everyone is experiencing. you might try update debug to avoid this issue. that's always been the way I've updated all the way back to the 3.55 days. however, I've never tried downgrading.

Thanks for all replays lads, but ill just leave it on 4.82 with Webman enabled, just to be sure the system doesnt YLOD anytime soon, a little loud b@tch, but definitely worth it.

Ill get a spare 40Gb Phat and try it to downgrade it to 2.80, just for nostalgic sakes :)

What if I told you guys I really DID have a 5.55 downgrade method? Would you PAY me? Muahahah!

IS THIS THE EVIDENCE?

I know it's a bit too early to ask, but is it possible to downgrade a system that came preinstalled with a firmware higher than 5.05 ? And will this work on the slim model ? Ty
Btw, for those who can't Google, next full moon is on October 24th
Edit# I might pay you, depends on some factors of course...

I was thinking. There was a way for PS3 to replace coreos data on nor ros0 and ros1 from one NOR dump to another. Can this be done with PS4 for an example 5.55 replacing coreOS with 5.05 or something like that?

I would definitely pay for an e3-type flasher or even a technical write-up for the more tech-savy people like myself. Would probably be quite expensive to ship the whole ps4 to australia & back!

i think they use teensy 2.0 ++ right now to dump the nor; so it should be able to write back as well. You could buy 1 now before prices starts to skyrocket :ghost:

Are you talking about the downgrade method mentioned here? https://fail0verflow.com/blog/2018/ps4-syscon/
I've read through the article a few times and from what i've gathered, there are records of previous upgrades (for example 5.05) stored in a flash memory chip on the ps4 (syscon internal flash). If you can extract those "SNVS replies", then you would be able to install the 5.05 system firmware & then send those old replies to the SAMU which will then authenticate the firmware "upgrade" that's really a downgrade.

In order for this to work you would need a PS4 that had previously been upgraded to a firmware lower than 5.07 as you need to extract those old snvs replies for the hack to work.
