i have a ps3 fat not sure of the model but it has ver 001 motherboard wiki suggests it a problem with the thermal ic of the rsx how can i replace it and also one of the nec tokens on the side of rsx is kinda blown like its melted how can i fix this issue please help
and also i gave it to a repair shop back in 2k16 or 17 and they said its not repairable it used to turn on for a bit like 25 mins i could play some games on it but when it came back from there its just started thorwing ylod instantly i remember i once plugged it in and it started working with no issues at all i played rdr1 for about 2 hours and no issues but when i restarted it went back to the instant ylod issue

Hello!
Could someone confirm if the errors my PS3 Super Slim's Syscon reported are a problem with my RSX's BGA.
- I measured all the voltages on the motherboard with a multimeter, and they are all present and at the correct values;
- I tested the power supply, and it is providing 12V;
- There is no short circuit in the Wi-Fi/Bluetooth chip, HDMI, or Ethernet controller;
- I pressed the RSX, Cell, and Southbridge, but it still didn't turn on.
It's a Super Slim CECH-4312A with an RTX-001 motherboard. RSX 28nm and Cell 45nm.

Hey everyone!
I seem to have an unusual problem with my ps3 slim CECH2008A (DYN-001 motherboard). On standby, it shows an extremely faint red light. When I turn the console on, it shows green light for about 3 minutes (fan does not turn on, no image appears (via both HDMI and IV) and I can feel almost no heat coming off of the MB) before beeping three times and switching to a blinking red light.

When I first got the console I noticed that the fan connector was completely ripped off, however it was 'fixed' by the previous owner by directly connecting fan wires to fan connector points on the other side of the motherboard. There seem to be no burnt, scraped, smashed or corroded areas on the MB, but there was a ton of roach residue all over the MB, disk drive and MB aluminum covers, as well as small spots of corrosion on the MB covers. I know for sure that the console was once in a repair shop, however they did not care (or knew how to) check a SYSCON, which I figured by pristine SYSCON test pads.

The PSU provides 12V, so I suppose it's not the issue. SYSCON analysis shows this:

When bringup is on, any command results in FFFFFFFF Answer length, so I didn't manage to get any results from powerstate and tmp commands. If I understand correctly, error codes 2124 and 2024 are somehow connected to AV and HDMI encoders, but I have no idea what these are, where they are and how to check if they are the reason for RLOD. I would greatly appreciate any help or advice on what I should do next!

Hello there!

Got my hands on a PS3 (life long PCMR, though i had PS1 XBone and XBox360 and PS4 but never used em much) since I wanted to play some PS exclusives (See what the fuss is about FF and unchartered etc.) got it cheapish from the classifieds ~45 bucks for a CHECHK.

Did a teardown with cleaning and new MX4 paste, added a 750GBHDD and installed CFW on it - so far so good
Slipped in my Disc and copied to HDD (OMG I forgot how glacial consoles are when loading from disc)
I got NHL 15 and FF8 cheap and started playing and Holy Hell - either I get overheating warnings or the PS3 litterally vibrates off the Desk....
This can't be normal?! It is Clean and I checked the paste and it has good contact, yet that thing is either an AGA or tries to fly away...
Are there still some waterblocks available? IDC if I have to Frankenstein it - but that is just INSANE (Since I still have a lot of stuff from my custom loops all I would need is the Waterblock for the GPX/CELL chips) back in the days there were some yet today they are hard to find or ooS. seen some hacks with universal blocks on YT yet no one adds which one they used in the Video.

Hoping some of you can help with that.

2. Issue: Is there a way to globally set the fanspeeds? seems like every Dash has its own and none really work and the fw based is cooking the chips

thanks in advance and cheers

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Wizards of PS3!
I've got a CECHC PS3 here with COK-002 board.
I've bought it already faulty so I don't know its full history.
SYSCON showed a 2110 error. I found fuse F6001 blown and replaced it.
After replacing F6001 still error 2110 YLOD.
More googling pointed me at capacitors C6019 and C6020. I removed both of them and measured out of circuit - found one was faulty. I've replaced the faulty capacitor with a donor one and put both of them back onto the board. Still SYSCON errror 2110.
I went back and verified the fuse F6001 and it's still ok.

According to error code WIKI:
"This error can be caused by a 5V_MISC short to ground. One user had an A0022110 after replacing IC6105 (Buck Converter) and accidentally bridging the 5V voltage input. So check the 5V line for shorts."
Can anyone point me at a location on the board where I could check for that 5V short please?

Anything else I could check?

Hi!

Happy to be part of this forum, I have a CECH-2004B which one day decided to show the YLOD.

In the first appearences of this phenomenon, it managed to boot, even to play games until like 10-30min later it beeped and turned off. My father back in the day looked into the PSU and got nothing.

Now the YLOD appears really shortly the power button is pressed, like 2-4s.Taking advantage of an USB-UART I bought for unbricking a PSP, decided to give a try to check the SYSCON error logs and bringup/powersw log the console and this was what I got. Forgot to get the time of usage of it, hope that is not an issue.

Mainly I got 3004s and 1002s errors, so I suspect I would need to perform the Tantalizer mod, but I'm just a mere amateur so any further insight will be really appreciate. Best wishes and thanks in advance!

Hi everyone! This is my first time posting on this forum. I'm looking for help with repairing my ps3. Currently, me and a few friends are trying to revive a console that YLOD'ed back in 2014/2015. We've read a lot of forums and posts and decided to replace the NEC/Tokins (we got errors 1002 and 2124 via syscon) with rip felix's Tantalize rs and their respective capacitors. Before their replacement, my ps3 would shut itself off immediately after pressing the button to turn on. Now we have new issues...
First time we tried to boot the console, the fan ran really loud and after a few seconds the ps3 turned itself off (no output to monitor)
Afterwards, we tried again and this time the console seemed to run fine? We didn't get any image on the monitor (so perhaps we need to change the hdmi since we also got a 2124 on the syscon errlog) but noticed the monitor "recognized" something when we booted the console. But, after 10-15 minutes, the console shut itself off again.
The third time we tried to boot, the console shut itself off and we spotted smoke coming from the console. After tearing it apart we pinpointed the smoke coming from one of the components near the tantalizers (Picture below).
From then on, sometimes the console doesn't even show the red light while on standby, other times it does, and we can't keep it running for more than a few seconds.
I'll also leave pictures of the tantalizers installed on the board as we are afraid we may have done something wrong while soldering them (this was our fist time working with components of this size and our skills are mediocre at best :/ ). We replaced all 8 nec tokins.
Unfortunately we did not have any scart cables to test if we had any image output when the console ran for 10-15mins on our 2nd attempt.
Also, two of the tantalizers are missing 1 ceramic capacitor each (the component from where the smoke was being released was near one of these two tantalizers missing 1 cap. Maybe it's related?)

Is this board now a lost cause? Is it even worth it to check another errlog? Anybody had a similar issue like this in the past?

Thanks in advance and best regards to all!

Hello everyone.

I got my hands on a 2101A Slim and figured I'd try to repair it. When I try to turn it on, the light turns green and then goes red and blinking...which to my understanding is that it's the equivalent to the YLOD for this model.

I have been using a 3000 model all this time with HEN, but the reason I want to fix this is I want to get Movian's BD-Accessing fork to work. It needs Level 1 access, so I'd need CFW for that to work (or that new RP2040-based modchip install, which I could do if this repair project isn't worth it).

Anyway, here's my log. I've noticed all I get is 1701 errors, which are extremely generic...but maybe someone with more experience can point me in the right direction?

For help with your Syscon logs, post them here.

All previous thread were merged into this thread.
We have alot of threads asking the same issue.

Help would be better served in a single thread, as help can address multiple user's.

Hello, my ps3(fat), 4.78 version and already flashed, I tried to update it ( from the internet & storage media) I got 8002f1f9 error code and get stuck in this loop for months, and then I fixed it, and restored it
Now I want to get a cfw , i installed a 4.78 cfw from this site, and i got the same error code, I fixed it again
Can you tell me how can I download the cfw successfully step by step ?
Why this error code is taking a place here even if this is not an OFW ?

Follow MrMario's tutorial. It's been posted many times already here on the forums.

HI all, got a CECH03 here! Pretty much instant YLOD happening very early in the boot sequence. I was given this console for free and I don't have a ton of history on it but here's what I do know.
Someone in the past has performed a de-lidd - looks professional there are no signs of damage to either chip
There is also a row of new tantalums in place of the old NEC-TOKINs on the underside of the board (non cpu/rsx side) - 2 rows of 4x 470 caps soldered at a diagonal - pic attached.
Now for the juicy bit, here's my output from SYSCON

Syscon Error 2110 indicates a short on some component, maybe a resistor or capacitor.

https://www.psdevwiki.com/ps3/Syscon_Error_Codes#2110_(Clock_Subsystems)

Thanks for the reply, I saw this on PSdev and to be honest, I don't know where to start looking. F6001 gives good continuity and I pulled off the 2 caps C6019 and C6020 which also check out at 23uF each. So.. down the rabbit hole we go chasing a short on this massive board.
Do you know any more specific spots to check the 5V line for a short?

Thanks in advance.

It's very hard to make a diagnose, as you didn't perform the token replacement. You'll have to test the involved lines until you find the short (if that's even the issue).

My advice is to grab another console. In the end, it'll be cheaper and easier for you.

Thanks, I guess its rabbit hole time. The console was free so there's an incentive to repair it!
I'm going to bridge F6001 to rule it out, replace those 2 caps then start digging into the 5V rail i guess..

Needing help please.
CHECH-3001a motherboard KTE001.
A few months ago, I bought it and installed hen, and as the days went by, it would shut down when I turned it on or booted a disk (about four times a week). The temperature fluctuated between 60°C and 66°C, but it never exceeded 70°C. One day, when I tried to boot a disk, it shut down and gave me a GLOD for about 10 seconds when I tried to turn it on. What I did was diagnose it with Syscon, and the results were as follows:

in Some threads emphasize that error A0805FFF is related to a firmware error (corrupted ROS 0, ROS01) thanks to a bad update or that the rsx/CELL may have died. But as I said before, the last time it failed was when I tried to run a disk. I'd think that is RSX/CELL but then in this post OP he describes the same exact problem and how he solved it by patching the EEPROM dump.
i have the eflasher but im not sure if i should use it. is my first time using syscon, I would appreciate it if someone could help me.

After screwing my PS3 back together, I reconnected the fan to test the syscon again:

Hi.

so, i have been smashing my head against this console lately, a Slim CECH-2011A with a DYN-001, when i recieved it, it had a bunch of missing components around the Cell VCore area and XDR 1.2V with some ripped pads, since i have donor boards i just populated them. but i'm getting the following errors:

Code:
Press Ctrl+C to exit
>$ bringup
00000000
# [SSM] Bringup Start.
# [SSM] PS0 ok.

Press Ctrl+C to exit
>$ bringup

# [PowSeq] Error:A104
# [SSM] PS1 ng.
# [SSM] Cond/Fatal received, msg=24D0.
# [SSM] Fataldown Start.
# [SSM] Fataldown ok.
# (PowerOff State) (Fatal)

Press Ctrl+C to exit

Ignore the A0003001 errors, the buttons flex cable got shorted at one point.

im getting a single A0203010 error each boot, which may be related to the Cell, but it feels too much like a generic error, to the point that i don't know where to look for, all voltages i have tested seem fine. and i'm at the point that i almost want to give up with this console.

Thanks for your patience.

Hi everyone,
I hope you're all doing well, and thanks in advance for any help.
I'm having some system error issues with my PS3 (running Evilnat 4.92 CFW, model Slim CECH-2004A), and I've attached a picture showing the messages on the screen. The console has also been upgraded with a 1TB SSD. I'd like to understand whether these errors can be fixed easily by myself. I'm not experienced in electronics repair — I can open the console for cleaning or to replace the thermal paste, but nothing more advanced than that.
Could someone please take a look and tell me if this is something I can handle on my own, or if it would require more technical repair skills?
Thanks again for your time and advice!
P.S. From error 13 to 31 it's just the same.
