PS3 HDCP Bypass/Disable?

I might be retarded but is there any way other then buying an HDMI Splitter to bypass/disable HDCP?
I know Debug units can do that in Debug Settings but a retail unit with DEX? Can it do the same or is it hardware related?

I need to disable HDCP because I have a VGA monitor with a passive (Yes, I know that passive is not the way to go but it was cheap okey :D) HDMI to VGA converter and the screen simply refuses to show anything its all black and it enters power saving mode as it just doesnt detect the signal. :(

Yes you can disable this on a Retail unit converted to DEX But you need ProDG and PS3TMAPI (PS3 Target manager) to do it and disable it from PC using this.

I have it disabled so I can record my gameplay through my PC and OBS without having to buying them stupid Capture devices with HDCP passthrough on them.

Nice, Gona try it out now and report back the results ;)

@Cypher_CG89 i try to disable HDCP on DEX PS3 but every time i click on OFF it select ON automaticly but
Yesterday i open xregistry then i see option of hdcp /setting/display/0/hdcp maybe changeing the value from 00000001 to 00000000 can disable hdcp even on CEX firmware @ISAK.M try it and report :)

HDCP can not be disabled on retail consoles, its a DEX only feature and is controlled by hardware so not patchable on converts afaik.

I got a cheap splitter from aliexpress that removes it.

Yes of course

Yes to what... DEBUG Setting's on the XMB > will not work.... or ProDG > will work, Connect to PS3, disable HDCP, reboot PS3 and HDCP will be disabled.

Really..... CECH2003A on DEX > HDCP Disabled....

Have you tested it? :) I know the option will show up.

But as far I know that is one of the only differences between DEX and CEX consoles on a hardware level.

Joonie agrees: https://www.psx-place.com/threads/u...updated-for-4-82-dex.17358/page-5#post-127017

Seems interesting, i read that is HDMI hardware side only possible on the original debug stations
I read that too multiple times over the years, if it can be disabled via Prodg that would be a great discovery.

As you have a DECH console too, can you 100% confirm that disabling HDCP does work on A converted CECH? Lots of people have been trying to do that for years.

Well I showed you a screenshot of my PS3 with it off and a fully working display so it does work, maybe your TV doesn't like it being disabled as HDCP is a 2 way thing both devices have to be HDCP compliant, so some may not like it when HDCP is disabled on the input device... its like a security system not letting you in when you don't have the right password .. Basically the 2 HDMI controllers check whether each has the right keys before you can use them.

yo, I tried doing it with tmapi and I get this, sometimes its a different error. I am on dex 4.84.2

I disabled HDCP to try it out on my AOC monitor, and it worked fine for 2 days, but today for some unknown reason, it didn't work, all i get is a a black screen and the funny thing is, i did ZERO changes to the PS3 and the PC monitor, if you guys experienced this before and if somebody managed to find a solution for this, please let me know.
Cheers.
P.S: My AOC Monitor is a 27G2U5 Model.
