PS4 HDD image + EAP donation ;]

Berion

Developer
I don't have hacked PS4 (newest fw :/) and I don't have any friend who have it. I'm interesting in making HDD decryption tutorial, similar to the one for PS3 (also in both languages: my own and English in parallel).

Does anyone could make and upload for me sector by sector disk image (e.g made using HDD Raw Copy Tool, no compression) with of course EAP key (i.e can be retrieved by Psxitarch v2 Linux (from "/etc/cryptsetp/eap_hdd_key.bin" or OrbisMAN, on any hacked fw v5.xx or v9.00).

The smaller the better, and I cannot download whole file at once, so would be great if be cut by some reasonable parts like e.g each by ~20GB.

Anyone? This time Yours Prometheus don't have vessel for the fire so need help. :P

Shouldn't bother if you don't even understand how the ps4 kernel exploit work, it is different compared to a ps3 jailbreak work.

@Hayato213 I don't understand "how ps4 exploit work", and I don't need to... PS4 HDD decryption it is not something to discover (because is well known since 1.76) but something to describe in easy words for wide range of people which want recover data outside PS4 environment... I already decrypted partition samples from all partitions encrypted by EAP (none encrypted by SAMU because we don't have a way yet to dump his storage). Yet for a tutorial, I need whole HDD image to make... screenshots.

Good luck with that, a sector by sector clone take a long time, I doubt anyone would be crazy enough to upload several hundred GB of data and give away their EAP key. Beside there is already a tutorial on how to mount the drive on linux and have read and write access to the user partition.

Indeed, this task is only for dedicated scene users with fast upload. However, it is possible even more crazy idea, sacrifice his own environment and install smallest possible drive which lie somewhere in the drawer forgotten by God and people. ;)

EAP key isn't use for identity user in Sony network, so it is nothing super secret stuff, just security layer preventing user to connect HDD to another console... Probably You mislead it with IDPS, which in case of PS4 cannot be retrieved from HDD (because all contents is additionally encrypted in various of ways, some closed in PFS containers, some like settings by some static key etc.). In summary, EAP is not anyhow dangerous to share.

BUT. Someone who have HDD dump can retrieve all SEN user logins and password (to PSS and 2nd party services like U-Play, EAsomething etc.), local network logins and passwords. So that's the risk must be take, and faith put in me to believe I don't care about this data or... just format HDD (initialize system).

All those tutorials and video tutorials doesn't covering access to all currently possible partitions, they are based on cryptmount which will be useless anyway after SAMU be hacked (some partitions are encrypted twice) and not covering all models (for late models, IV calculations are mandatory).

Regardless no one is going waste time doing a sector and sector clone and then give someone else a copy of it, we are not talking about few GB, we are talking about few hundred GB, you are delusional believing someone would give you a full dump and give away their EAP key for free. Best of luck.

EAP key have no value for anyone except those who need decrypt HDD... I explained already why.

In summary: You've just registered here only to answer to this thread and complain about my request? What's the point of that? You should be glad that such hackers (in old meaning of this word) and scene popularizes exist... And for that there are still some people which for free (as You speak about money) want to share the knowledge with others.

Maybe I'm delusional, or maybe not. Myself I have upload speed ~10MB/s, and this is rather one of the lowest speed in my country. On top of that, not everyone playing games on PS4, not everyone have 2TB filled by games which have any value for them. So my advice is, if You are not interesting to help, just ignore this thread because You doing something completely opposite and based on second paragraph, I considering this as kind of trolling.

Obvious troll is obvious.

Berion is certainly not delusional and is well respected. Berion will get what they need soon enough. It's not 2000 anymore, It's 2022, a hundred GBs uploaded isn't a big ask for people with decent internet and there are a lot of people that would trust Berion with their EAP key.

I'd hook you up myself, but no PS4. Sorry.

You do know most people PS4 HDD size are 500GB and above, rare case someone have a small size PS4 HDD, unless someone is willing to install PS4 OS on a 128GB SSD, and then make a sector by sector backup I doubt he will ever be getting one, sure you said uploading 100GB is easy, how about you try that first, you will realize how long it take to upload 100GB of data.

Not to mention most people have like 500GB/1TB drive, so sector by sector backup of 1TB take 20-30 hours.

Really depends on how fast your download speed is, even if you use something like 1fichier it will take a long time to upload/download 500GB/1TB sector by sector clone, you be lucky if someone can give you a 128GB sector by sector backup, since the OS take up 93GB.

Average read speed on SATAIII HDD ~100MBps via SATA. For 500GB HDD:
(512000MB)/100)/3600=~2.5 hour (even little less because it is not GB but gB anyway)

Average read speed on SATAIII SSD ~500MBps via SATA. For 500GB SSD:
(512000MB)/500)/3600=~30min...

1TB take 20-30 Hours, so 500GB take 10-15 hours.

I have some advice for You my friend. Do not talk about things which have no idea about. Reading disc image sector by sector is the fastest way to create disk image because not involves any I/O slowdows due to logic structure operations (which are anyway not possible in case of e.g PS4 HDD for apps which don't have a way to decrypt it and parse the contents).

Then why does two different sites say it take 20-30 hours, smart pants cause you sound like an idiot.

I don't care what some sites says, I care what calculations saying knowing how fast read speed is from source drive, how fast is write speed on target drive and what bandwidth can candle interface which is in use to talk both controllers.

man you are delusional.

Ok if you are not going to contribute something to this stop clogging up his thread. If I could swap drives without losing my data I could help. Just afraid my 2tb I am using would take FOREVER to copy.

Did this on my 320gb PS3 once. I gave up after nearly a day with my current laptop. It came with Windows 7 and is such a dinosaur I haven't turned it on in 6 months. Here is what I am working with

When I finally get a new one I would be happy to help. The upload isn't really an issue. I know I have 5gbit connection as do quite a few folks nowadays. So if you have something PRODUCTIVE to say please carry on. If not despite your own issues (still not sure what that is) kindly refrain as I came here curious and it has just gotten childish. Your options and views are not the same, respect this and move along. You have given your opinion but man you are beating a dead horse.

At least he is trying to do something productive. It is things like this why a lot of devs do not bother to release to the public or avoid the site altogether. This doesn't directly negatively effect you so why do you care? I know I have a lot better things to do in myife then whine like a pubescent child. I would think everyone would.
