PS3 HDMI port not working but AV port does work

I also have the same issue but with my cech 4003a.It has been many months my PS3 is packed into it's coffin, that's why i was offline for such a long time here at PSX-PLACE.

@n00b That's more complicated. The Panasonic chips can cause important issues on some fats slims and SS. From the problem you have now, to shorting the entire mobo. The solution here is to remove the IC in case it's damaged, which is always the issue.

I would prefer to fix it Myself with thee help from the talented people here as opposed to taking it to a shop ( there are not many local console repair shops, near me)
If you have the tools and the knowledge, then go on. BTW, which model it's your PS3? You could start with some flux and heat over the IC if measures of diodes and filters are ok.

Its a Superslim cech-4003a.
Edit:FIlters are OK because i used to clean them with blower.

It is the cech model, fat model
Are you referring to the HDMI transmitter chip, does this go faulty ofren
any tests to know if the HDMI transmitter chip is working

He's not on about your model PS3, he's referring to his own.

Not helpful... there are many "Phat Model" PS3's... and every retail PS3 starts with CECH... whats important is what comes after the CECH.

So yours is a CECH???
Oh sorry
Its cech03
Motherboard cok-002

@ps3xbox You have to check the resistors that are rounding the Silicon chip, If they are in short or no. Also those filters that look like blocks, which I believe are some kind of protection. If you aren't sure, you can reflow a little as I said, but you'll need a heat gun and flux.

I thought he was saying about mine.
Sorry @Cypher_CG89 and @ps3xbox

I checked the filters and resistors but they seem ok

UMAFriend it could be that your PS3 has the same problem as my old PS3 but mine was worse because it was damaged by lightning that fell near my house the concert was around 300 there I sold

Then try reflowing the IC. Watch some videos on how to do it, and use flux. If that doesn't work, then you need to replace it.

How did you fix it

Hi
All
I have checked the HDMU fuse again and is ok
I have replaced the silicon BGA hdmi IC chip with a new one and still the HDMI is not working

I have heated up again and is cooling down but thought I would post here and get some ideas from the talented, magnificent people here

I also checked all the resistors, diodes behind the HDMI port and around the HDMI BGA chip
Also checked the filters and all check out ok
I also have checked the 2200 ohm resistors but they are all ok

I tried to do video reset using the beep method, holding down power button but no success

One thing I noticed is that when I connect the AV cable to the AV port to the PS3 and go to the display settings and I select HDMI then change to the HDMI input on My TV, The TV flashes the resolution, as thought the ps3 is trying to output the signal

The HDMI port is fine and there is no damage to the port
I have checked the pins and they are ok
Please any ideas

Thanks again
