PS3 Headphone question for owners

So I play my PS4 mostly with headphones. I need to get a set for my PS3 so I can get playing some games I want to play. Thinking of getting one of the Gold sets as I am a first party whore.

The question I have is will all game audio play over the headset? It won't be hooked up to any speakers just a nice monitor in the office but I recall having some issues before years ago if memory serves me correct. Just wanted to get some feedback on everyone here that uses them.

I saw in Evilnat's latest showing of bad assery of a CFW there is something in there. Anyhow does it work? Anything you needed to do? And finally what hardware are you using? Especially interested in the wireless Sony Gold Set as I used to have the wired Silver set and I was very happy with them.

If you are looking for Bluetooth headphones for PS3, i advice you to get a soundbar with bluetooth functionality + any decent bluetooth headphone. Your Monitor should have an HDMI and Line out port. The soundbar will connect to line out and give functionality of Bluetooth which you can use to hook up any bluetooth headphone.

There are CFW homebrew apps to directly use bluetooth headphones with PS3 (there is also a thread somewhere), and i have tried it. It didn't work for most people. Some people who could get their headphones working got a pathetic audio quality.

So your best bet to use wireless headphones with PS3 is through soundbar. But homebrew works okay for USB headphones. You can use your PS3 USB ports for headphones with CFW homebrew. But not for wireless.

USB Sony Gold Wireless is the best wireless headphones to use with PS3. No need to use any soundbar or whatever. The audio quality is perfect. I tested it on a shop years ago, but I didn't have money to buy. I don't know if it plays the PS2 games audio over it, but for PS3, I'm sure it works with ultimate audio quality.

Yeah space is limited and that is what I do when in the living room. Like playing in the office as we have an amazing 4k monitor. But thank you for your insight.

Yeah that is what I was thinking I just can't seem to shake I had an issue with all sound coming through them. Oh well just placed the order today so we will see. Thanks guys!!!

speaking of headphones, I bought a pair of earphones for my switch downstairs. they're pink, almost red. I got them in the same style as the black ones for my phone and the blue ones for my laptop. :D

Yeah just need a set as I am getting ready to play all FromSoftware's SoulsBorne games. Want to play on Demon Souls on PS3 then PS5 to really compare. Then Dark Souls on PS3 then the PS4 Remaster to compare. Then finally DS2 on PS3 followed by DS2 SOTFS. Then DS3 with Sekiro to finish it off. Finally managed to get pretty good at the clunky play style of DSR. Word of advice for anyone playing these games for the first time. NEVER start with DS3 or Bloodborne. It is tough to go back to the first tgane doing so. Anyhow I have headsets for my PS4 and I have seen PS3 headsets work with PS5 as well. So a two for one setup.

the one I bought doesn't have a mic, but I never leave the house with my switch (afraid of it getting stolen or dropped), and the new bluetooth audio feature doesn't work with the mic anyway afaik. I bought a new set of earphones, so hopefully they'll be good enough. one of my friends said his bluetooth headset wouldn't connect or wasn't detected or something, so I bought some that I can return if they don't work.

Sony Gold headphones cost $140. I can buy a decent bluetooth soundbar and good bluetooth headphones combined for $60.

money is no object for @atreyu187 . :) he showed me one of his pay stubs, and he's really been racking in the money. I think he's still selling cars. he just texted me a few moments ago, but that's not what we were talking about. ;)
