PS2 HELP - 7500x ps2 with dead disc drive

so I got my hands on this console, it has a matrix infinity modchip installed, disc drive is FUBAR. I can get my hands on (or rather, make) a MX4SIO adapter, and also have a fake 64MB ps2 memory card

how can i boot/copy wle and launch it using dev1?
 
With matrix infinity when you boot holding triangle, it will execute the "matrix manager " ELF , that can be replaced with any other app

I need to double check the path of it. If you have any other PS2 to manage the memory card, the fake 64 would be just fine to boot with matrix chip as long as you can put the file in the right place
 
yes, that's DEV1 on the modchip. i have no way to drop the ELF on that memory card since i don't have freemcboot installed or a working cd drive to boot from, but i can make an mx4sio if needed.

it's a catch 22 situation
 
Can it read CDs? Some times the DVD is dead but it can still read CD, then it could be a way to install the binary on the card.

if drive is totally dead, then you'll need to have another PS2 or someone that can help you out and get the memory card ready
 
nope, the flex cable is torn on the laser and the motor that drives the pickup up and down the disc is also dead, it needs a whole new assembly
 
btw, the Matrix ELF path is:

once you get the file on a memcard, hold Triangle when booting and it will launch the ELF (you can put uLaunchElf or anything that you want)
 
Ordered a freemcboot memory card on temu it seems not possible to do so without an already modded mc or a working drive
