Forum Noob
I have a ps3 which had rsod and took it to a technician to fix... He installed a cfw which I think has removed the the rsod or created a bypass for it... Buh anytime I try to play FIFA 16 it gets stuck at the checking trophies scene... And also I can play Gta 5 Buh can't save... Anytime I try to save it says error 80022D90 . Some games won't launch at all... Can you guys please help me out.. I'm a noob and barely know about this stuff.. Thank you in advance

1. check your console can go down to 3.55
all phat consoles can. slim consoles cech-20 cech-21 can

5. you should have the red box on screen telling you your in factory service mode

6. restart the ps3. it should read the usb stick and then shut off.
--the Lv2diag should have called the function that is built into sony's firmware
to re-write the VTRM areas of the NOR flash. this fixes the RSOD and trophy
errors propperly not just hides them like the rsod package or rsod bypass cfw's--

7. restart the ps3 and go to the settings collumn.
go to the bottom where it says network
do the key combo (see the included image)
if you see the debug settings then go to step 9 skipping step 8
if you do not then do step 8

8. install toggle_qa.pkg
run it and you should hear 3 beeps
if the ps3 freezes then re-start and run it again. it happens-alot...
do step 7 again

9. rename the folder = PS3 3.55 ofw nobt-wifi patches -to- PS3

let go of the button
connect controler with usb lead
press PS button
select option 6 ONLY
put usb stick into right hand usb port (port 0)

Alternatively, can use XMB CFW settings by mysis directly from a 4.xx CFW.
http://www.psx-place.com/threads/xmb-cfw-settings-v0-1a-mod-mod-by-aldostools.8855/
I almost forgot about that..
Thanks for the reminder man..
I haven't used it as yet.

I looked at the Readme that mysis released with his xmb_cfw_settings.
It doesn't say much as you can see:

Re-Initialize VTRM-Region - Aka RSOD-Fix if VTRM not a hw problem

Still it's a more practical option.. [emoji6]

Uhm... I know this might sound stupid.. Buh how do I install via Xmb in step one...

name the minverchk folder to ps3, and install using "update system software" in the system tier. it should shoot back an error while also telling u the minimum fw ur console can be downgraded to.

If you are already on Rebug you can use xmb cfw settings easily.
No need to go back to 3.55 & use pkg....

All you need to do is launch the Rebug Toolbox & enable XMB CFW Settings in the selector menu.
The console will reboot & on restart, in the network column there's a new menu called *Custom Firmware Tools.
The Rsod fix can be found by selecting this menu then choose *Service Tools/*Advanced Service Tools.
To use it just start Factory Service mode. The FSM toggle entry is just under the rsod fix. Just choose Toggle Factory Service Mode to enter FSM, the choose the rsod fix then toggle Factory Service Mode again to exit FSM.

Although you should not need it here as you would not downgrade but MinVerChk can be done in the same way. No need to use the PUP & update menu.
Just choose *Custom Firmware Tools/*Service Tools/Display applicable version.
The minimum installable version will be displayed on screen in a pop up!

I haven't tried the cfw tools way myself but as it says it will fix if it's not hardware issue then I also suspect it's the RSOD pkg type of fix as the fsm fix actually re writes the VTRM area so any bad blocks will be re-mapped fixing the hardware that created it

I never realised there were 2 threads for the same problem....

@baileyscream
I also thought it was the same as the rsod fix pkg at first.
But the entry was called 'reinitialize vtrm' or something similar when xmb cfw settings just came out.
The rsod fix pkg doesn't reinitialize (rewrite?) the vtrm area, does it?

The hardware mention is ambiguous I must admit, but doesn't it simply mean that if the nor chip is dead, the problem will come back & the vtrm rewrite will have been useless?
If nobody knows what this rsod fix does, we would need to ask @mysis directly, I suppose.

I never tested the xmb CFW settings, rsod fix stuff yet... but i tested the bd remarry stuff and it works. It's done in fsm, from à cfw4.xx.

Thread wise
I'm not ignoring you @kozarovv this thread had just progressed from the chat room.
Also the tut and tools have been cleaned up and made easer in this thread.
This could do with being added I the the other thread though to be fair.

The rsodfix.gnpdrm.pkg
In its readme it does speculate that it could be from the VTRM area via bad nor (we know this to be true now)
But it does not say if that's what its attempting to do.
http://www.dashhacks.com/ps3/ps3-news/ps3-rsod-fix-released-via-gameos-linux.html

The rsod_fix_all_cfw.pkg
This one actually says
"The fix occurs by the VTRM area on flash being rewritten.
The ability to do this is already built into the firmware, it just needs to be called"
It also mentions trophys working again after running this pkg in broken English

So this one claims to do what the lv2diag fix does

https://psxtools.de/index.php/Thread/65643-SUPPORT-RSoD-Fix-PKG-für-alle-CFW-s/?threadid=65643

I think the latter is the most likely suspect that is intergrated into the cfw tools but without a console to hand to experiment with I cannot be sure.

Personally I haven't had either pkg work properly but the lv2diag RSOD fix always works
But if the nor looses more blocks in the new VTRM area then it will need running again and you will need to look for a new nor chip to replace before it dies completely.

And there are more pkg versions out there but there all more or less the same

I never tested the xmb CFW settings, rsod fix stuff yet... but i tested the bd remarry stuff and it works. It's done in fsm, from à cfw4.xx.
I heard the remarry worked great from cfw tools it's just with it saying it's not for hardware that makes me think it's not the lv2diag fix but more a bypass pkg type fix
But I could be wrong.
Ps I have seen both your messages I'm trying to make some free time so I can concentrate fully on the issue :)

Grateful for the detailed explanations!
I will definitely read your next findings with interest. [emoji6]
Eventually I might try to find mysis on irc for an explanation of the feature as well...

Mysis sometimes puts his work in detail on the ps3devwiki but it's usually hidden on a talk page
If I ever find this cfw tools on there I will let you know but the wiki is not easy to navigate ATM it's all like an archive page

I noticed about psdevwiki too.
I dunno what's going on. Maybe @sandungas might enlighten us...
