[ HELP ] Which CFW to install?

Good night, everybody.

I've come to ask for your help.
It's been a long time since I've been updated about CFW's.
The latest version I used on my PS3 Slim, was the 3.55 cfw. As you can see, it's already very old. During this whole time, I had the PS3 stop. Turns out, when I turned it back on, the puck ended up crashing and not pulling out. Nor through the "Recovery menu ", could recover. So, there I had to put a new disk but, it turns out that now I have the firmware 4.81 installed.
My question (request to ask you) is:
Can someone tell me the best cfw to install? What is the most reliable/stable? And if it is possible also, how to proceed with the amendment?
I wanted to play on the PS3 again.
I really appreciate your help.

Greetings to you all.

Rebug 4.82.2 REX is probably the most popular choice, but Ferrox Cobra 4.83 is also popular and the latest CFW version. You can't go wrong with either, really, but Rebug is recommended simply for the multitude of features it has. I did use Ferrox Cobra 4.82 for the best part of a year and was happy with it; I'm using Rebug at the moment and it's great. :)

Edited to add: Do not perform a system update to OFW 4.83 as that will make you unable to install CFW.

Thanks in advance.
No, I do not intend to upgrade to 4.83.
So, I have to download update 4.82 manually, install it through PEN and then proceed to install CFW REBUG, right?

i also vote for 4.82.2 rebug :D
Thank you.
So, do I first have to manually update through a PEN (data store) to OFW 4.82? And then proceed to install this same CFW REBUG 4.82.2?
Or can I do it directly while I was with OFW 4.81 installed?
Can you help me with the installation process, please?
Best regards.

Good afternoon.
I made all the processes in the indicated link and I was able to install CFW REBUG 4.82.2.
Everything seems to have gone perfectly.
Now, to run the games, just remove them and move to the internal / external disk and play or is it necessary to make some game file change to be "recognized" in this version?
From now on, I thank you all very much, all the help available here.
Best regards.

Hi. Glad to hear that you were able to successfully install CFW on your system. You'll be able to play PS1/PS3 original games via disc as normal, but you can also rip them as ISOs to play without the game disc, using Cobra mode (needs to be toggled in Rebug Toolbox) in a homewbrew such as webMAN MOD. PS2 ISO backups can also be played using a modified version of the ps2_netemu emulator (used on OFW for playing PS2 Classics purchased from the PS Store) - see the PS2 Classics compatibility list to see which games can be played as ISO backups. PS2 game discs cannot be played on slim models, CFW notwithstanding.

PS3 games can be ripped to ISO format using multiMAN or IRISMAN; I'm not sure about PS1 and PS2 discs as I created ISOs of those using my PC. To play from the internal PS3 HDD or an external USB drive, use the following folders on the root of the drive for the corresponding type of game: PSXISO, PS2ISO, PS3ISO. Note that PS2 backups can only be mounted and played from the internal HDD and not external. You can play PS1 and PS3 backups, however, from an external drive; an NTFS drive (or partition on the drive) is recommended for PS3 ISOs due to their large file size (i.e. >4GB). Hope this answers a few of your questions. :)
