It is perfectly safe to update to HFW 4.84 - which firmware version are you currently on?

HFW is essentially a slightly modified version of the official 4.84 firmware, and your PS3 will see it as exactly that. See the following link which will tell you everything you need to know about 4.84 HFW, download links, etc. Hope this helps.

Also why not use HEN (Homebrew ENabler) it is almost like CFW and you can FTP files using any FTP client. (You need to have a FTP client on PS3 aswell, like; MMCM/WMM/Irisman...)

Only to add to this thread, and help others, because I was getting the same error message, (i.e An Error Occurred during the download operation (80710092).

So you don't run into the same mistake as me. Turn off your VPN/ virtual private network on your PC.

Thanks for the help, pointing out that the IP addresses need to be the same. It made a bulb in my head spark, flare, and pop. lol. I would of never figured that out on my own.

I get a error msg when I start the server on my laptop... "It says something is missing and uninstall then reinstall may fix this problem" any idea on what's going on?
