HENkaku REX 3.60.011

Title catch your attention? Good it was meant to as Pixel Butts has taken the time to convert our Vita and PSTV's into semi DEX machines. I also want to add do the enable semi-debug option from Mr. Gas EML hacks which can be done from the system itself now with Vita Registry. This did not come from PinandSilica as I don't trust him after his malware and this has more DEX options working. And unlike Silica's release Pixel Butts went through and made sure to keep the PSN store for you. Once done go to System Settings and check your FW it should report back as 3.60.11 before HENkaku which will report back as HENkaku-4. One last thing if VitaRW doesn't auto close it doesn't matter. The vs0 aka dev_flash can be written to or as we say it dev_blind is enabled.

  • First off, I appreciate that the shell.self from kits works on retail systems, but I wanted just a little bit more available to me. I typed this up for a lot of people, and wanted to post it here as well.

    IMPORTANT NOTES
    • This modification does than just changing "shell.self" for the DEX live Area
    • This is not a full CEX2DEX conversion. Until os0: is more understood it will not be complete.
    • Not all DEX utilities will work. Some do, many dont.
    • This is in no way safe due to the use of VitaRW. Do not use this method unless you understand its risks.
    • This is the first attempt. Some things may not work properly and will crash.
    • This requires the use of database rebuilding. Any modifications to app.db will be removed.
    • This can be used on PSTV and PS Vita systems. PSTV may have issues with certain apps.

    What you will need
    1) Install Henkaku
    2) Install your FTP client and transfer VitaWR.vpk to the system
    3) Back up all of vs0 and put it somewhere safe
    4) Install VitaWR and use it. If it gets stuck hit the PS Button and then continue it. It will complete.
    5) Extract the contents of the supplied files to vs0:. Overwrite them (you made a backup so its okay).
    6) Once complete you will see failed transfers. If they're all folders you did it correctly. If it's files try again til ALL files transfer successfully
    7) Exit FTP and turn off your system
    8) Enter recovery mode and rebuild database
    9) It should load you back to the Live Area. Your bubbles should be there in the DEX Live Area.
9.5) If you are unsure if it succeeded, find Molecule, hit Triangle and look for "Debug Utility".
    10) Refrain from using the following due to system crashing.
    -Mini Settings for QA bubble
-Debug Settings (in settings bubble. Normal settings are okay to use)
    ##The following may vary##
    11) Open Molecule and FTP your app.db to your pc (ur0:shell/db/app.db)
    12) Go to https://anthe.studio/bubblestudio/, click "Add Bubble" and select "Package Installer"
    13) Click save and you will have a modified app.db. Save this and FTP it back to your system
    14) Reboot and you will see your Package Installer bubble is present and working

    Extra notes
    • If you wish to install packages, create a folder names "packages" in your CMA (or QCMA) directory (Documents/PS Vita/package) and place any pkg files in this directory.
    • Save data for Bubble Studio might not be needed for Package installer.
    • If you encounter an issue be sure to let others know
    • Remove the "Featured" app if you wish

@atreyu I want to do this but can you explain to me the Mr. Gas simi-debug trick, in other words what registry edits did you do?

What is advantage of using this? Tbh i tested this with hope to get access to DEX registry to improve little bit my thread about that here. But I still can't do this, so i explored little bit my PSTV to check what exactly is different. And I need to say that all things i want are still not there.

I had modded shell and installed package installer before, so only "improvement" that i found is trophies managing. There is something more? Anything?

iirc, semi-debug requires the system.dreg file. u need system.ireg to decode the system.dreg as well. u also need the fix registry app (forgot the name) to fix the hashes of the system.dreg. it's much easier than it sounds to hack the system.dreg as long as u can hex edit which u know how to do. :)

semi-debug is kinda crappy. I enabled it on my systems. it doesn't allow u to do much really.

No but may lead to further enabled features and more. Pixel unlike silica (the guy that did the other DEX-ish release) has been try OMG to test stuff and this is a WIP for sure. After silica's Vita Malware I will never trust a thing from him. Pixel the guy that gave us this also gave us the PKG installer files and also unbeknownst to him the first pirated Vita game Adventure Time. It was just a debug build on his debug system for preservation long before HENkaku came out

I read that guy Pixel Butts is not sure about messing with os0: ,at the other hand i found that tweet: https://twitter.com/xmaxkatsu/status/767357785667436544

If this is really have to evolve into something bigger then they should work together. ;)

While I am all for working together Silica has a lot to make up for spreading that malware I just don't trust him and would not want my name associated with his. Pixel I talk to a lot and he is devoted to his work and test everything the best he can.

The PKG Installer app works just fine without it. I simply use URI caller to open PKG installer. There is also a CEX modded one but on the PSTV it isn't as stable as the Vita. I had to install Crash Team Racing via the Vita, then CMA to PC the CMA to PSTV to get it and other titles that work fine for the system but Sony blocks some games even the USB trick doesn't work for.
