So basically, I bought a second-hand PS3 FAT model with 80gb of storage, but it came pre-cfw'd/jailbroken and with pkg support for psn games. At first everything went fine with it until a day ago, when it kept freezing/crashing over and over again (stuck after starting a game, loading screen, or in-game), so I tried to search for some solutions:
  • I used webMAN to keep it cool with the fan settings, still kept freezing sometimes.
  • Restored the file system, but that made things worse and I needed to install webMAN again, did it, kept freezing.
  • I even changed the plugin memory usage for standard (896kb) in webMAN and, while it worked fine for a while, certain games like GTA V crashed on me, along with some texture glitches (I even put a small fan at the back of the ps3 to avoid overheating).
Honestly I don't know anymore, I think it's time to open up the console and probably remove some dust that has been roaming in there? I don't know, this is my first owned PS3. What should I do?

You could check if the HDD is in good state, but seeing that's an original 80gbs I doubt it could be the problem. If you managed to set and get good temps, I believe the problem could have to do with the RSX or CELL, maybe due bga issues, or maybe the NEC capacitors are about to say goodbye.

Are you getting glitches during the crashes?

Nope, most of the time it's just freezes during loading times. It's weird because the problems seem to appear at a random time, since i've played for 3-4 hours today and everything worked fine.

Why not replace HDD with a new one and reinstall firmware from scratch?
Fat PS3 is very stable so if that doesn't resolve the problem it could overheating problem or motherboard related issue

Edit: Now it seems to be having dome texture glitches THEN freezing afterwards.
