Hey there!

Holy shit, I thought I would never see another active PSP/PSX forum ever again. It's great to see you guys are still rooting for PSP development, even though it's not as active as it used to be like in 08' + . Man, you guys have it so easy now, everything about the PSP is pretty much exploitable (I'm following the uOFW movement right now, insane). Back then, I had to **** the shit out of google, go through tons of french forums, afterdawn threads, NGG threads with 12 year olds that had no idea what a .prx file did. I remember the first time someone came out with those cheat systems you could use in Socom, and you could change your username color and what not (MKUltra was the engine name!). I'm getting nostalgic here, but those were the days. Oh, and when Dark-Alex left the scene, shit was left in shambles. People were coming up with their own CFWs that were just garbage and inconsistent. The GEN team was the successor, but M33 releases were the best out of all the scene. Shit wasn't easy, but it was fun, and everyone was on the same boat with waiting for the next dev to release the next big thing. Shit, I still have 5.00 M33-6 on my PSP-1000! I never saw the need to upgade to 5.50GEN with Prometheus around, and it was easy to patch a game that needed 5.50.

Little bit about myself, I used to be on places like ConsoleSpot, and another one I can't remember on the top of my head, it had a really active GFX forum though. I can't find it via google, so I don't think it's up anymore. I used to be a part of that community as well. How are things now though? What's the latest CFW I should put on my phatty? Any games to recommend? I saw RetroArch is doing great things to port it to PSP, man, I just wish we had a functioning N64 emulator besides Daedalus that worked with Super Smash Bros properly. I used to play it regardless of the laggyness. Damn, I was like 13 when I first start tampering with my PSP, It was the first device I grew the balls to open up and mod the faceplate.

Now, I'm 19, so you can see the big nostalgic joy ride I've taken here lol. From CXMB to trying to get PSPTube to work, to that Windows Vista portal that you had to run through a browser that had little tools. Now, you guys have shit like a dev trying to get an IRShell successor, but with an Android look, but I saw he said he's done deving. I don't think it needs anymore, he made it very robust, and if anyone wants to take it over, they can, if Sony ever releases a PSP that isn't shit again.

I'll see if I can contribute anything here, you guys seem like a cozy place to chill.

EDIT:
I even found a super old tut I made on how to install CXMB lol

Welcome :) If you are familiar with PSP you need to try Joel16 Cyanogen mod shell for PSP, you can find it here in PSP section! Is a masterpiece! Hope you enjoy this site, We are focused on PS3 and vita now. But we still have a lot of members with amazing knowledge about different console scenes, including PSP scene.

One more time, welcome and enjoy this great site! :)

I just loaded it, it looks cool, but something I was hyped to try was the browser, but it just freezes when I select it so eh.

Nice to see some PSP users still lurking around. I'm that 'dev trying to get an IRShell successor, but with an Android look' guy haha. Just so you know the browser, is the same exact one from Sony. Sorry about the problem though, I'm guessing you own a PSP 1000? If I recall correctly the browser had some memory allocation problem. For some reason it wouldn't work on PSP 1000s but it would work 'just once' on a PSP 2K and newer. Like you can open it, and everything will work as it should but when you close it and try reopening it crashes. Sadly I never found a solution for that, even though I was planning to. (But I dropped the project). Anyways I'm still happy with what I bought over, like 24 hour time toggling, wallpapers and custom fonts, expanded desktop, password and pin lock etc. Thing is, I coded these things from scratch, without using other references. That was the easy part. The biggest obstacle that overcame my way was designing it to work and look like Android. I had a lot of problems implementing certain designs which would cause lags or memory problems, and so I had to optimize and keep it as 'minimalistic' as possible. Anyways enough said about that, I'm glad you're a follower of uOFW as well. I recently joined their team, and I'm helping around bring up certain modules :)
Right now we're working on 3 modules, 2 which are important (modulemgr, and rtc) and one not so important (mlnbridge_msapp). We're still kind of a long way off sadly, but that won't demotivate us. Reverse Engineering is a long process, and we'll try sticking to this as long as possible. Hopefully in the end we can finally see a 'custom kernel' for PSP ;)

I'm thinking his issue Joel16 (BTW glad to see your still lurking!!) Is he is running M33 5.00 as I could never get that to run using Time Machine booting the CFW from my MS DUO. I would suggest he really update to a new 6.60 CFW and if your app is in mind use Pro CFW (LME 2.3 till I die! And I still have the working M33 driver variant so I'm good LOL).

But a modern CFW has come a very long way from M33 days though DAX did an amazing job with M33 it has thus been replaced. The inferno driver is a MUST if you wish to play the English translation of Final Fantasy Type-0 which may very well be the be the best game on the system and at least the top five for anyone. Not a huge RPG fan but then action based gameplay made it a ton of fun.

Oh BTW welcome to the forums hope you enjoy your stay. There are a few PSP nuts still lurking me and kozarovv and of course Joel16 as well as Tranced (if memory serves me correctly) though 90% of my PSP is via the ePSP CFW on my PSTV's now days but my slim is sitting next to it as well as my Go sits in its dock ready for my HDTV.

Also Djlatino don't count out the app just yet. Joel16 has abandoned the app once are twice before and always seems to come back. I hope that still continues but it has come a long freaking way. I might have some older builds that still had pretty damn good 1000 support as well though the latest is the greatest. And as long a PSP game launching isn't a huge deal (it can work for most CFW outside of PSP ISO launching as its based off of Pro CFW drivers as its totally open source) he has just been tied up with uOFW as well as many devs, not a lot of public news but checking github will show you there is still work avidly done to the project.

Lol wouldn't get my hopes too high about it. I kinda mean it for real this time. It wasn't just the lack of support, but due to some recent changes in real life circumstances as well. Also uOFW would be worth more, since it would grant us to build our own custom kernel. This would offer more much more capabilities than a CFW.
