PS3 Hi all ...... and a Retro Arch (CE) issue

Hi all, first post so intro: 50s avid retro collector (name it, I've got it......mostly), recently into modding PS3s for resale.

Issue:
Retroarch CE installed on PS3 HeN 4.93.
MAME games cuts off top and bottom, so you can't see "SCORE" and "HIGH SCORE" at the top, and can't see "CREDITS" at the bottom.

Done a LOT of Googling to try to fix this, everything basically says turn off bezels, turn off overlays, tweak screen ratio etc. but NOTHING works. (There ISN'T a "Bezel" option anywhere in settings anyway, and overlay on or off makes no difference whatsoever).

Also tried 4:3, 3:4, 16:9, Core provided, nothing fixes it.

Literally just want to see the whole screen of the game in vertical format, so if anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated.

If it still has the integer scaler use that, think of it as displaying 4:3 in a 16:9 window.

4:3 x 1
8:6 x 2

12:9 x 3 <<<------ Letterboxed with black bars.

13.5:9.5 x 3.5 - Stretched but chops off the overscan horizontal black bars.
14:12 x 4 - Same as above, but more chopped off.

Hi Kevstah and thanks for the reply.

I'm not sure where to find the settings you mention above, and I don't understand the " x1", "x2", "x3" bits either.

I think I've managed to get it working with
Integer Scale - ON
Integer Overscale - OFF
Aspect Ratio - Core provided
Crop Overscan - ON

This has given me the whole game, but there's now a wide black bar top and bottom of the have screen

But I'd still be interested in trying what you've suggested, once I understand it lol.

What's the base output resolution of your emulated 4:3 older pc, console or arcade arcade & region of the game?
PAL games have higher resolutions but lower frame rates 50fps vs 60fps or 25fps vs 30fps, like NTSC 480i vs PAL 576i, which makes the overscan black bars appear different even though their the same 4:3 aspect ratio.

Common ones:
240p/480i/p, 288p/576i/p?

X,Y Integer for instance
480=640x480 x1, then 1280x960 would be x2, stretch out the screen more or less to cut off the bars but to display in the window of your screens resolution.
You should be able to set it as both a global & per core option.
