PS5 Homebrew

Via dev mode on the Xbox Series S/X it's possible to make homebrew using UWP.

Wouldn't it be nice if Sony offered some similar sandbox on the PS5?

Then people wouldn't be wanting (or even trying) to jailbreak the damn thing.

Then RetroArch would be possible without jailbreaking. :D

Microsoft is more open to options, and always was since the original XBOX, Sony in the other hand would not offer you something similar, except selling you a Dev Kit or similar like Net Yaroze was, if they offered some sort of Dev Mode on retail machines, the machines would be 99% opened for exploitation, which is something Sony doesnt want, Sony is so paranoid that PS5 doesnt even include a Browser on the PS5, aside for some hotlinks, plus Sony´s security is just mehhh, plus thoes glorious days of OtherOS and misc, is over since almost a decade ago.

All those services ending tragically. XNA was killed. UWP in "dev" mode will be probably soon on XSX. PSM was killed on PSV/PSTV/Android and licenses revoked. Also Sony have bad experience with PS3 and OtherOS mode. That's not gonna happen IMO.

And I hope not. Such environments are extremely restricted and taking focus part of the community to something else. They are management remotely and every time they can decide to turn this off on YOURS console or deleted such functionality in firmware update. Pure evil.

@Naked_Snake1995 PS5 have web browser but hidden. ;)

PS5 bug bounty program coming in near future. Hackers will find exploits for Sony & sign NDAs to keep them secret.

Thats why i told, it has a Web Browser, but via Hotlinks, still doesnt have a full fledged Web Browser, perhaps i expressed it wrong, but the option for cookies and any browser related options are still available in the Settings Menu, strange how a 500€ machine and they still dont include a web-browser entry in the OS, aside for some redirectional links
