Both companies will be aggressive with their pricing, especially Microsoft, they have a bigger bumper than Sony, so can they can take a hit in price if they needed to.

The plan is sucking the average Joe into their console's blackhole, Sony has the upper hand, they've basically been in a wet dream for the entirety of this generation, and most of their fans pledged their souls to the five orbs of Playstation's (ps2 reference) and with that GTA V move, they've secured that, the GTA V player's heart will not endure losing their account with millions of dollars for another platform.

the series X looks awful, but I like what I'm hearing about bc. the ps5's bc is a joke. we may have the 100 top games available at launch!? that's what Cerny said about the vita yet there were 9, count 'em, 9 bc games in north america at launch. sony expected gamers just to buy randomly hoping the game worked. that's bull shit.

You don't need to worry about BC, since even games like GTA5 will be available to buy again on PS5 (and XSX i bet). :P
 
I am such a damn pirate that b/c doesn't matter to me, I won't be able to play the games in the form they're in currently anyway. :P

Not really I never hacked my PS4 and obviously Xbox One (it was never hacked) and have been buying games for both. I will be in no hurry to go next gen maybe 2-3 years after their launch. I may not even buy Xbox anymore I was pretty disappointed with Xbox One to me the best exclusive games for XB1 are the Forza games and they're really good racers but racing games should not be the best you have to offer when it comes to exclusives. PS5 is only a matter of when not if.

The reason is the PS5 with BD probably needs to pay some licenses, or the software related with video will need to have a better manteinance team, or dunno... the point is not only the price of the parts what counts, maybe there are some more factors to consider
Also, if they really wants to make a impacting offer by reducing the price (to promote the most sales posibles), this price reduction should affect specially to the "digital PS5" model because is the cheap one
So all and all... maybe the digiPS5 is going to be 100$ cheaper... it would not surprise me if they does it

And btw... there is a technical detail about this 2 PS5 models that worths to be mentioned... this is going to be lot of fun/pain for us :D
The point is... there are 2 different approaches about what they did to design the motherboards for the PS5
The easy one is having a motherboard common for the 2 PS5 models... but this means the BD controller (chip) needs to be located inside the BD drive... and this means we are going to be again with the same "problem" that happens in the first PS3 models where the BD is "paired" (or married) with the main motherboard :crybaby:

The other approach is to design a motherboard specifically for the PS5 standard version with the BD controller soldered in the motherboard
And another motherboard for the PS5 digital without the BD controller (this allows to reduce the motherboard size a bit)

$100 Difference is reasonable. There may even be $149. Why? I think its not just about BD drive. Sony may try to target two different segment of consumers. Those with tight budget and those who can pay extra for more features. I would like to see more details on the features on Digital Only and BD Drive models. Functionality, Hard Disk sizes, Bundling of accessories etc.

Remember in old days you had XBox Arcade, XBox Pro, XBox Core etc. So there may be similar pricing differences. I know this comparison is like Apple to Oranges. But $50 difference won't make any sense. Sony has to take headache of manufacturing two different models and then marketing them at just $50 price tag won't be beneficial. I strongly believe that lower model will be built to attract Budget gamers.

Trying to see from marketing perspective.


Edit - By the way.....Sony may also be hedging from point of view of future of Optical media. With streaming, Digital content and high speed internet across most part of the world. Optical media is slowly loosing its relevance. And all this time, the Memory continues to get cheaper and cheaper. And faster and faster.
 
499€ - Normal
399~449€ - Digital

Anything above the 500 mark, is less incentive for people to buy it, the PlayStation3 suffered from that fate, and Sony knows it, even 500 is a stretch, if they price it at 400 like they did with the PS4, it will sell, but that's unrealistic, so 500 is about right.

Never said the opposite. I think that a alternative og graphic mode (like Monkey Island HD has i.e.) would have agreed everyone.
And btw if they do as with Shadow of the Colossus it will be a graphic remake, but basic design and details should remain the same, 'cause the story wouldn't be changed.

That said I like the new graphic, I think they took inspiration from newer Souls graphic style. As I said I have some doubt about the changed details, but it's too early to make final judgments, we'll see.

I'm not so much interested simply 'cause I still have the original and play it once in a while. With the current amatorial server it is much better than it originally was (finally you can play online without losing your world tendency), sure the traffic is not that high anymore unfortunately.

One thing the may lead me to buy the remake would be if they remove the invasion SL limit making it as DKS 1 (where you have SL limit downward, but no upward, so you can fight or exchange items with a friend without any SL limit. Who has the lower SL must be the invader that's all).
Demon's Souls was limited to the upward too. I hope they'll make it as DkS 1.
 
P.S. ...and another thing that will lead me to buy it almost 100% sure would be if they patch the Weapon Toggle bug!

Actually it wasn't so invasive in DeS due to the lack of poise. It was a curse in DKS1, it completely killed the poise system and made useless all not-light wapons.

Weapon toggle-backstab chainer... there were a lot on Ps3, you could only reply with the same technique, very boring fights.

They should have fixed that crap on DKS1 Remasterd :(

I need to say that I'm surprised. Xbox Series S at that point seems to be overpriced. While i still prefer Xbox Live + Game pass due to financial reason, Digital PS5 in more rich countries (West EU, USA, etc.) seems to be much better option. You get fully featured next gen with same power as more valuable Disc version.

About Disc version, i think they changed price after XSX announcement. This is good, now people can choose what they prefer without looking at price, XSX, or PS5 disc version.

Well it was confirmed to have PvP and PvE all over again,im sure ill be DS3 style,like no matter your level you could always invade or do a jolly,but you would be at the same level of parity as the host.

Something is throwing me off the remake,maybe is the gameplay,is different than i remember it,but who cares, but perhaps the more throw off thing is the 79.99€ price tag, not even Shadow of the Colossus charged that much, and it was a "Remake" too, im sure Story wise Demon's Souls will be unchanged, bad move from Sony to charge 80€ for it, so ill wait.

The Digital Version Price,was a approximate value from 399 to 449! I demand my free PS5! Fair and square [emoji23]

Not yet here, Digital is sold out,but the BD is still in stock.

The Portuguese mentally is buy the 399 one and you're saving, I'd rather go for the 499 route due to value per console, digital only isn't my thing [emoji23]

But im thinking hard about it, with this whole "fiasco", the world isn't in the best economic shape, so im kinda in a dilemma here, buy it at launch or buy it a bit later? The PS4 is still kicking,so not in a hurry, aside from Demon's Souls,im not interested into anything else at the moment in the PS5 library [emoji1745]
